And for those seeking comfort in other successful people's ordinary starts. I'll weigh in, Michael Angelos first painting wasn't great. Used his own excretions to paint the back of the dunny door. He though was 18 months old .
No was has been able to confirm it though.

Bradman made 0 and 1 in his first test so...

I think it was purely psychological. He was trying too hard and mentally didn’t handle the occasion. Add to that our crappy entries for the most part, odd shaped ground and a 75 point loss, I don’t think it’s all that surprising that it didn’t work on the day.

Should get at least another couple of games regardless. The issue is if Zurhaar is ready whether they’ll just do a like for like change. I’d bring Zurhaar in and leave Sellers in.

I was wondering why Sellers' guernsey presentation was done by Donald McDonald. Then I looked at the past holders of number 36 and the only recent long term holders of number 36 still around are Steven Icke, Graeme Atkins, Jose Romero and Shannon Watt. The first three all went to other clubs. Watt--enough said.

Shannon Watt would've been fine to present it. Not a great player but gave it a good shot.

I remember reading something on here about him having played like a whole year and never being benched. Like an entire year with 100% game time. Something crazy like that.

that in and of itself is a pretty fair effort considering when he played.

It's on his Wikipedia page lol, definitely impressive.

Would be circa 2003 I'd guess. Laidley wanted Watt and Baird to play max minutes to develop asap as key defenders.

That would probably explain why he was never within 10 meters of his opponent.

It was close to 100 years ago so I can understand your memory being a bit foggy 😂

Look, 18 for the don is like -50 for a normal player.

Warney went for 150 in his first game.

Our main job is to get the system going as flags are not just built on having players xyx but have a viable system.

We will always be getting the players when we finish last for 5 years but how do we turn them into something useful?

Premierships are built on defence 😉

Donald brought Sellers into our VFL program as I believe he was coaching him at Old Scotch

Was a better player then Donald and wasn’t lovely during the presentation a quick promotion of his and his sons super box was done.
Thought it was poor and for the haters of Sellers I believe should played VFL give him another week there give him a chance to kick a few goals then bring him in for this week game.
To debut against a top line defence with our forward line having the disposal that we have was a poor decision by Clarkson.
But in true fashion we will bring back a bloke who won’t be at our club next year and I believe has gone backwards as this bloke knows his an automatic selection no matter how his form is and this year it has been poor him and management are playing this club off a break and stupid Rawlings can’t see that.

The slowest 'quick' full back in history. Laidley loved him but unfortunately he was a pretty frustrating player who had too many bags kicked on him in what was an otherwise good defensive side. Never question his effort or commitemnt though.

He was the Sam frost of that era - a few brain fades as well

Hmm not sure Sun Tzu would agree with you on that one 🤔

Well the jist of sun tzu's philosphy is that the best offense is to have a good defense. The opposite also applies. It essentially says that to achieve decisive victory, one needs to make sudden precise move when the opponent is not expecting.

In football terms, the best 'defenders' often attack the ball to become the most effective in their position.

Does this mean we are in furious agreement 😝
