Congrats Tyler and welcome to the fold. Love it when you see persistence and hard work paid off.
Will be a great foil/insurance for Larks.

Is it just me or does he have a similar body type and role to play as that of a Cameron Pedersen for those that can recall?
Loved Peders while he was at the club and was sorry to see him leave.
Remember him falling asleep in team meetings because after training he was going to Bunnings and working on a forklift all night and he didn’t tell the club, I think once they found out they sorted him a job in the huddle as well as his football contract.

Can't help but wonder if the club was holding off on getting this done until the day the Tarryn suspension dropped so we'd have some counterprogramming.

Not a chance.

The TT news is embarrassing for TT, not for the club who have done nothing but support him.
And good people don't muck around their brand new recruit in order to manipulate the news cycle. We're much better than that.

That's rough! Warehousing is physically draining. If he was just on a forklift that's slightly better but if he had to do labour intensive work, **** that. Night shifts in a warehouse turn you into a zombie. I'm surprised he even made it into the meeting room without collapsing.

Glad the club sorted it.

Guessing Larkey' s vote of confidence would've sealed the deal.

Whilst Sellars is a little short for a KPF he has good positioning, courage and marking. Kicking a little bit hit and miss but nothing alarming.

But most importantly Nick would've had direct observation of his smarts and how we worked into our structure alongside an established key forward.

Going to bet his thoughts post intra would've been taken into account.
:smuglook

He is a similar size to Jack Darling who has been a very handy player when there is good ball movement and system.

You don’t need to be 200cm to be an effective key forward.

TT is such a loss to guys like this who run to the right spots and just require good delivery.

He has that same body shape, decent and longish arms that allows him to mark when he probably shouldn’t be in the contest. Cam was pretty good at that!

This makes me so bloody happy.

From the VAFA rising star to kicking 30 goals in the VFL to an AFL list all within 2 years.

Fact is, players without talent don’t make that jump that quickly and at just 20 y.o there is stacks of potential upside with him.

Nice leap, elite in the air, natural forward craft, decent at ground level and a solid tank already.

Absolutely no reason why he won’t play plenty of games this year.
Agree. I'm pretty excited about this signing.

This may be a dumb question but would he have done 100% of the AFL pre-season in the same way the listed blokes did? Ie would he have reported on first day of pre-season, done all sessions inc time trials (relative to his age/experience), had an individualised program over Christmas etc?

Just interested if he is starting from further back than others on the list currently.

if true thats a great work ethic, superstars only get clubs so far however solid journeymen are the foundations of successful teams,

Arms reaching up like giant testicles type arms?

I'd have him lining up in the round 1 team.

I think having a "natural forward" for want of a better word could actually help our forward structure. Over the last couple of years, we've gone with CCJ or a ruckman type alongside Larkey, with Zurhaar roaming around. That often resulted in blokes flying for the same ball and bunching up where separation was required. I feel that a smart forward who knows how to play the role could actually work much better, albeit some would say he's not quite tall enough, I don't think it's an issue. He can legitimately take a quality defender away from Larkey's path, while also being more than capable of taking 4-5 marks of his own and kicking a few.

Scary last few years we had barely any key position players. We now have maley sellers dawsonx2 nyuon and Pink. To compliment logue larkey comben and corr.
As Barrett would say, that amounts to a "gaping hole"

Seems more of an Aaron Edwards type to me

Completely agree. It's why Drew was so fantastic working in with other forwards and why I always spruiked keeping Ben Brown as he was smart enough to partner up with Larkey.

CCJ is an enigma I was told by tiges mates he's a great forward but apart from one monster VFL game I can't see it.

Best CCJ has done in our colours (in the seniors) was the first Essendon game last season and the Sydney game. He wasn't Wayne Carey, but showed something that should be a minimum standard for him. Sadly, it hasn't been that way so far.

I wonder how much the pending suspension of Thomas factored into the club deciding to contract Sellers?

While I'm rapt that he has been given the chance - and would have been just as happy if it had have been Lowson or Harrop - it seems to me that listing a player via the SSP, may mean that we are able to take someone else in the Mid Season Draft.

Thai is. assuming of course, firstly Thomas is suspended for a considerable period, and secondly that we are allowed by the AFL to recruit another player to replace him mid year.

I doubt we’ll be allowed to fill a list spot in the event Thomas is suspended long term. Even if we tip up his contract I still doubt we’d be able to fill that spot in the MSD.

I also wouldn’t worry too much about the MSD, it would be unrealistic to think we won’t have one long term injury on the list by the time the MSD rolls around.

Good luck to the lad, I hope he does well.

Fact is though he was overlooked by everyone else despite having a full season of exposure at VFL level so I’m tempering my enthusiasm.

Hopefully they’re all wrong.

The two are mutually exclusive, we were always going to fill that last list spot most likely before the MSD the club was just waiting to see where the list was at from an injury perspective and what if any gaps needed filling. Fortunately for Tyler we didn't have any new LTIs and we were able to address the need for another KPF.
