Not sure if anyone noticed or I'm doing a total Sandra Sully here.....

.....but on the subject of promising signs from the offspring of club legends, a certain Shinboner Of The Century's kid is in the Knights U18 squad.

Also in the U18 squad is Ewan MacPherson - son of Steve, younger brother of Darcy, and a very handy footballer.

I have a bit of an inside track on this one as I've seen (most of) these U18 Northern Knights kids playing a lot of footy over the years. (Half of them are TOD Jr's mates!) Some very talented footballers in the squad. Happy to field questions on any likely prospects.

Best regards,
The Other Pykie

That namedrop:sentence ratio is up there with the best of them. Should be calling you The Other Twinkletoes.

Answering in reverse here.....

Played with Park Orchards so he's one of the kids in the squad that I haven't seen a whole lot of. Saying that, I have seen him play a few games. Different kind of player to his dad and at this stage (important disclaimer because these are kids and things can change) he looks to have a bit of a different body shape. A little rangier in build. Last game I saw him play he was playing as Mid and if memory serves he spent some of that time on a Wing.

He's no squib at all, but in the games I've seen him play I haven't witnessed the manic attack on the player and ball that his dad is known for. (On that note I feel for the kid. It's a pretty difficult legacy to live up to.)

Decision making is/was a standout, clean with the ball, does the small things well, brings his teammates into the game, hits targets. I recall thinking that he reminded me a little of Bailey Scott, but realistically the sample size is way too small to make any meaningful comparisons on that front.

My specialty category is the U18 Northern Knights squad :stern look. Haven't caught a game of Cooper's for a while now, but from those I've spoken to he's tracking well. In the top 3 or 4 players in his local comp, and the NK gong is encouraging.

Strikes me as more of a showtime type player. Much more like his dad (than Jackson is like his). Agile, highly skilled player. Loves a goal.

Too early to make any definitive calls and both are talented players, but it would be naive to think that both of them don't have an extra leg up via their surnames.
