Past #38: Josh Gibson - officially traded to Hawthorn for picks 25 & 41 in the 2009 draft

I'd prefer - and it would have been better karma - for him to play unijured and have Hall bend him over again.

Yeah nah. It would just bring back memories of that elimination final when he was rag dolled around the Olympic Stadium with no relief from the coach's box.

A Bulldog supporting buddy says the feeling from the members wing yesterday was that he was faking it to avoid any further humiliation.

Thats a good fake job. The doctor opened him up and found a big tear that will keep him out of action for a while . Dont know how you could make that up???

And also what a terrible thread. There are some players I completely despise from North and as much as I dislike them, I would never wish they get injured. This whole celebration of injured players is one of the massive concerns in footy today. Almost subhuman in my book.

Settle pettle. Perhaps you skipped the several posts criticising the OP? Also, get a sense of humor. snrubs comments were obviously tongue in cheek.

Poor form guys. Regardless of what you think of the bloke, I think it's beneath everyone to be celebrating someone's injury.

Beat him on the field, beat him with better play, but don't go cheering an injury.

Well said. Especially considering most likely none of these posters probably do anything remotely physical to obtain such an injury. Get over it North fans and move on.

I suppose we're just a bigger bunch of pricks than you lot.:)

Don't worry, Gibbo will still make it in to the social pages.

Out for up to 12 weeks

Terrible news.

Its nearly as bad as Hawthorn supporters laughing at John Hays mental illness isnt it!!

That's worse than this situation actually. A hamstring you can get over. Mental illness is terrible.

I would be posting the same response on the Hawthorn board if some Hawthorn supporter celebrated anything to do with an injury/illness. Really poor.

We shouldn't be laughing at the player but we can definitely have a dig at the hawthorn club. They stole Gibson and Burgoyle from their respective club and pretend to be all macho about it. Now whos laughing, Burgoyle is past his use by date. Gibbo isn't the answer to Hawthorn's back problem. We got a gem in return. Not too sure about Black.

All i can say pretty poor form by few North supporters here.

I just hope that this will not bite you in your bum when one of your own players goes down.

For that to happen the situation would need to be comparable. As none of our current players jumped ship to play for a team made up of a bunch of egotistical and narcissistic d1ck heads, it won't.

Have a nice day.

Petrie has already gone down and is arguably our most important player and yes it's terrible. Most posters on here have condemned the OP so really there is nothing more to see here.

Will miss 12 weeks - similar to Riewoltds injury. Bad luck for Gibbo. Interesting that one of the commentators doing the game on radio mentioned that do a hammy that early in a game often reflected on poor preparation. Interesting comment.

Or it could be a result of being over worked or compensated for. The last thing I would do is ever consider a commentators opinion on injuries before it has been examined. You may as well get an injury report from Bay13.

The same day we find out gibbo is out for 12 - Bastinac gets the rising star nomination.

Call it coincidence, call it Karma - i dont care - im rapt we got some long term midfield talent from a guy who will be retired when Bastinac and Black are at their peak.

I think I read something about one of our players here but couldn't concentrate after reading "bum" and seeing your avatar Goldhawk :facey thing dribbling over the keyboard :

Yep, a hamstring tendon. The prognosis, longterm, is good for these injuries post operation. The worse injury is when the tendon has been ripped from the bone, unlike Gibbo and St Nick who have torn their tendon but not from the bone. Not expected to be back before round 18, according to the doc they just spoke to on SEN.

Agree - thats why it was such an unusual comment. I'm wondering what was behind it. Very unusual.

This.

I said at the time the 'roos drafts picks were more than adequate compensation for a player of Gibsons standing. Very early days but Bastinac looks the goods & should have your supporters nothing but rapt with the trade.

If you got nothing (like St.Kilda with the Ball trade) I could understand some bitterness & anger towards the departing player, but as it stands flaming Gibson is just a damning reflection on the quality and character of the BF member.
