Anyone having a go at Cumberland needs to widen the lens of all players in that forward line.
He's played 16 games. First game back in a month. Thought he presented well taking 5 marks and kicking a goal. Had 7 disposals.

Now let's compare the others Clarke who tried hard but didn't use it well. Dropped marks like it was a wet night. DE46%
Jack 6 disposals, 1 mark 0 scoreboard
Ryan 5 disposals, 2 marks 0 scoreboard
Miller 4 disposals, 3 marks 0 scoreboard
Pickett 9 disposals, 1 mark 0 scoreboard
Jack Graham, how he gets off scrutiny is beyond me. 11 disposals, 2 tackles, and 1 point.

Cumberland out of the 7 forwards was our best which shows how poor the others were, and Clarke was 2nd even though he turned it over but played with some spark.

From our 7 forwards listed above. 3 tackles between them all. 2 to Graham and 1 to Pickett. It's why I wanted Maurice Junior in, his frenetic pressure and closing the space quickly denies opposition players to waltz the ball out easily. We saw it last week v Saints.

Meh was the best of a shite bunch. Still shite

I would just play him for the rest of the year - assuming his ankle is ok (I thought he had snapped his achilles)
Has only played 17 games so far - and a few of those as a sub in or a sub out.

Now this next comment is just a personal observation:
I reckon he might be a little slower in terms of general and footy IQ - apologies for this.

I watched him closely warming up before the Giants game - all our other guys came out together, in good spirits joking around and encouraging each other.
Noah trailed the larger group out- was sort of gazing around looking at the stands - was sort of by himself. He then did some 3/4 pace run throughs and agility stuff before joining the larger group and even then, was not really closely engaged in chatter and encouragement.
Now I don't know if this was by design, if he is a bit of a loner, an introvert perhaps but to me it was really evident and quite noticeable.

Clearly the guy has some footy talent and when "on" can be a dangerous high-reward forward so again, with no sign of Lynch and Pickett and Graham offering very little forward, I would be saying to Noah - "you have the rest of the year, in the forward line, settle in and just play - look to hit the scoreboard as much as you can and have fun playing footy"

He might just need some liberation....

Felt bad for him in the first half, couldn’t get near it (20 I50s probably a good reason why) and when we did try kicked it over his head an OOTF (at least twice).

Looked better in the second half, took some marks and tried to create. Even when it didn’t come off, in a night where nothing went right for anyone (as well as being generally poor), you accept turnovers and mistakes if it’s on the back of trying to create.

Defensive issues are still prevalent unfortunately. Of bigger concern for mine is some of his body language.

Even so, he’s clearly in the best 26 player discussion which should give him confidence if his value moving forward.

Not sure he’ll play every game; in fact I suspect he’ll make way for Dusty next week; but was better overall than previous weeks. Which hopefully will continue.

Wasn’t the worst forward by a long shot and needs to keep his place.
His biggest issue ATM is he has no right foot which limits his goal kicking ability to one side of the ground - the club must address this deficiency in his game.
Has a lot of other very good attributes for a medium forward and can find the ball.
The missus wanted to watch cricket. I could only watch the first half. Hallelujah.
The game plan.. it lived in Brizzy's fwd line. Kick ins down the line to a contest that they won. We couldn't get the ball past the centre. Cumberland at least got the ball a bit. Unlike the KPFs. When they have bad games they're invisible.
Midfield balance with Hopper ain't quite right. I hope Prestia was just having a week off.

Pickett was 2023 Pickett. Forward line Pickett. In this week for Rioli. Rioli back please.

Changes? Dusty for Ryan or Miller.

?? for Short.(inj)

I do not see the Dusty like for like frankly. I would play Dusty higher and Noah deeper, but Noah's finishing and composure worries me at times. I would just give him games and see if he can develop

I'm actually in support of KDH on him. The reasons are he reminds me of that big lazy kid who matured earlier than normal and sat in the GS kicking 10-15 goals a game from grade 1 -year 9, but by the time everyone got their growth spurt he was then back in the pack. He didn't develop his game to use both feet, to chase and tackle with multiple efforts, no run and jump, no creative handballs and really no street smart survival skills. He has way too many deficiencies and this is why he's had two goes already. I would invest serious games into Coulthard , Green etc as they at least have most of these skills.
His game is based around a KPF , but HE'S TOO SMALL TO BE ONE.

Yeah he has a few flaws. it could go either way. Coulthard looks like he might be a goer but he is a shorter lighter different type.

But this just reflects the side in general has a lot of development to be had in a number of areas

I feel bad for him, it’s just not going his way at the moment. He needs his luck to change and to have a break out game to get his confidence up

That left foot shot across the face. I assume he has no right foot and could not kick a snap with confidence?? He needs to develop a few strings to make it.

Left foot helps him get out of traffic, has speed, can take a mark, but still needs to develop parts of his game

I just dont see the lack of defensive pressure others do, he was chasing and harassing at high intensity yesterday- I do see it with Jack - the outlet from our forward line goes through jacks area about 80% of the time.

Cumbo is clearly lacking in confidence but perservere

Chasing tail is one thing, giving up on contests where his direct opponent keeps going and marks it 20m away is another thing.

I just dont think it comes naturally to him - I did see a lot of those chases you are mentioning last night but I think they were more afterthoughts and "**** I need to chase now or coach will drop me"

HE PLAYS like a KPF as this was how he grew up playing. That's why he has no natural Small forward traits. We think he's lazy and sloppy, but his work rate is of a KPF AND USELESS bc of his size.

I think thats the gist of it really - its just not in his nature to pressure. Maybe it will click one day. Hopefully.

You can see what Dimma was thinking with him. That defensive pressure just is not there with him. I'm not sure it ever will be. If we have other defensive players around him he can be a star, but unfortunately we don't.
Don’t know about last night but his defensive pressure numbers when he’s playing seniors are better than most in the side

Wow, ****n wow. Our forward line was putrid last night

Jack was shit
MIller was shit
Ryan was shit
PIckett looked like he would rather be anywhere else than inside fwd 50
GRaham was shit
Clarke was shit

Cumbo was less shit than all of them, but what stood out to me, this kid is bereft of any confidence, literally drops his head like a kid than knows every mistake will be scrutinised and he will likely get dropped. hasnt played a game in month and was literally the only player forward of centre to beat his opponent on a few occasions atleast.

THats ok, the geniuses here at tiger big footy and going to give a lecture on how he needs to run patterns, like triangles and squares and other nice shapes thingies.

They were shit cause the midfield was shit. Dusty, Lynch, Prestia are massive outs. Short also did a hammy, we came of the bye and guaranteed some of our players caught the flu. It was a total write off game so if anything I’m glad all this shit happened now rather than later. We’ll improve.

I suspect with Cumberland it has less to do with confidence and much, much more to do with resilience. Building that resilience from within would be a massive step forward for the young man.

How do you know he stopped and gave up on a contest and wasnt made to look silly by poor delivery/poor midfield? I saw miller was playing on Andrews and Im seeing Andrews taking marks uncontested with Miller not in view - is that bc Miller is lazy or he was trying to draw out his opponent and wasnt used by his teammates? I just think people are looking for something that isnt necessarily there. What i saw was a fwd who is the only one that got separation from his opponent on multiple occassions in a side that got flogged and is also clearly lacking confidence. He's ok and will work through it, but the hyper highlighting of his ****ups is really disconcerting when the same thing happens to every single forward in the comp every single week.
