or maybe, he is just a square peg that doesn't fit in the round hole that we have available
Completely it could be...

It's funny, I mentioned it months ago on here, at what stage does your ability or potential swing the conversation.

Young ave player developing, has to mold his game to fit the game plan.

vs

Young player looking like superstar, coaches change the gameplan to fit them in.

A Change in gameplan in 2017 is what gave George and Butler and opportunity, previous years that may not have happened.

ability will swing the conversation if and only if the negatives don't hurt the team the other way.
its a balancing act that is above our pay grade

I hate having a go at younger players specially ones with undeniable talent like Cumberland but way too many things need to go right for cumberland to play well and it probably all starts with when he wakes up on game day from which side of the bed he gets up on to the traffic coming to the ground

1 thing thats not in place and it effects his game dramatically

Agree his career could go either way and it's up to him as he's already had a lifeline.

A square peg can fit in a round hole providing the edge of the square is less than or equal to the square root of two multiplied by the radius of the circle and greater than zero.

OK THEN RIDDLE SOLVED

I've never seen a 2nd-year player been scrutinized this much, nearly everyone has now jumped on to the George defense bandwagon yet and quick to jump on noahs neck.
1) the guy proved he can play.
2) is a dangerous forward which is what we need.
3) yet still we have people here that will come up with crap theories as to how and why he can't play.
meanwhile, the same people completely missed the lack of connection within the team and coach for the last two years straight.

Who’s jumping on his neck? Most are just tempering the expectations of the fan boys

Agree to an extent but just for prosperity he is a 4th year player not 2nd year (drafted in the 2019 draft) & 22 years old

a lot of our boys missed development time during this crazy era.
Agree, but that same could be said for every team especially because of covid
With list sizes having been cut over the last 10 years and a mandatory amount of list changes made every season unfortunately players have a lot less time to stay on the list and sort out any lingering issues that may be preventing them from taking the next step

Hopefully post bye Cumbo can re capture some of that form from late last year and finish the year off with a wet sail

Exactly. like Sonsie, if he was playing for a much less experienced team he would be getting games.

Without a doubt he has to improve 💯 aspects of his game which young player doesn't ?.The problem I have is that it wasn't applied to others in this scenario. Dimma handled it poorly let's not blanket it you got your best medium forward sitting in the vfl based on what bs excuses we can't have him and Dusty in the same position come on or we need to develop him in other roles lol .What's Cumberland thinking ? Dimma potted him in press conference's this year and now we hear this bs about George never seen criticism on him by the coach load of rubbish.

Maybe he’s just not that good. We’ve had plenty of players come through looking like world beaters on occasion but cant sustain it.

If he was as good as some fap off to on this board he’d be playing.

I think you may be on the money here. We’ve seen players look good early but not improve or even sustain there performance.

Well he better pull his finger out and get a move on and if he continues this way in 2024 then that could be his last

You dont stay on a list for 6 years without demanding a spot in the position he plays

Clubs have to churn through lists to remain competitive and players like Cumberland , Dow , Sonsie will only get so long before they are churned over

I really hope he makes it and his raw talent is great

To be fair, he missed his first year due to a knee reco. He came back pretty proppy in the VFL, only played 3 games in the first 9 rounds, then he started to find some form in the middle of the year before being promoted. Knee reco's are always hard to come back from, so he is in fact closer to a 2nd year player than a 4th.

This year he has played a total of 3 VFL games and 7 AFL, a couple of them as the sub. So that equates to about half the games he could have if not for injury and byes. He has had no continuity in his season at all.

There is one constant for young players to develop, they need games every week, without that they stagnate.

All is true but it’s also sometimes bad luck a lot of players have similar injury/ continuity issues but still end up getting delisted
Just because they have had bad luck won’t save them from the axe if changes need to be made

No chance of being delisted, we have an old list and precious few quality players in the wings. He might leave perhaps, but most likely he is pretty happy at Richmond but a little frustrated how the year has gone.

We haven't got a clue really how he is travelling, but he's in Qld right now as back-up, so good luck to him. He just needs to get out and enjoy his footy for a bit at any level.

I wasn’t talking In specifics to Cumbo being delisted this year just more to the point that he has had a fair few amount of injuries as a reason of his development getting set back
If at the end of next year when his contract runs out and he is still struggling to maintain a spot in the 22 it wouldn’t be a shock to see him moved on
