Must of been a bitter pill for Dimma to swallow at half time to put Cumbo on.

All you negative Nancy's and Dimma worshippers if that change wasn't made we would have been lucky to kick 4 goals tonight.

Dimma is a good coach but quit acting like he doesn't make mistakes, he let's his stubbornness get in the way sometimes.
So you think it was a bitter pill for the guy who signed off on his team selection to play him? Just actually rethink your post. Just saying....

Personally i think it's great Cumbo stuck his selection up my arse last night because based on VFL form i wouldn't have selected him. It's now a good problem to have. He definitely should play the full game next week.

I think there's a bob each way with Cumberland. He was the spark in the 3rd Q that got us back in the game, but he is also pure attack and structures and defensive aspects of the game are needed.

But he is 10 games into his career and you'd have to say he is definitely one of our most exciting young players albeit with a fair way to go. He was in everyone's best 22 at the end of last year, and he should be back in there after last night, but he still has things to work on, like most young players.
Daicos is very early into his career as well...and he's not being sent back into the Ressies to learn a defensive craft...

All that from 7 possessions

That's it mate, he does as much wrong - seriously wrong - as he does beautifully.

Waiting for the footy to come over the back in marking contests where they easily escape out the front because he didn't contest, allowing whoever played on him to become a spare man at will, repeat failures to lock the ball in, complete stranger to defensive running - just as you say, costly basics (and he was hardly alone there of course).

He's got talent to burn and I love watching him play, he's a born gun, but we already leak all the defensive things he leaks with other forwards and in the end the question becomes: how many of these 'boom or easy rebound bust' types can you afford to play across half forward, especially when you're already getting beaten all over the ground?

Jack leaks around the same level, as does Dusty on his worse games and they're all a like for like swap, but you can't play all of them unless you've got a dominant midfield and win enough contested ball to make up for all the times they'll be easily rebounded against.

It happened once… he’s 10 games into his career, he’s going to make some poor decisions. His direct opponent was pretty concerned with him and hardly playing loose launching attack after attack.

His defensive pressure was shit let’s be honest. He at times looked confused where he was meant to be. Should play starting 22 next week just for the offensive side of his game though which was great.

Bs, he nailed a pie in a tackle in the 3rd Q that got recorded as someone else’s tackle

And closing speed to spoil a pie from marking in the last

Sure he’s not elite in his defensive side of things but he certainly ain’t shit and makes up for it with all his offensive weapons

Eaxactly i known what id rather have - a forward that can kicks and sets up goals. We were impotent without him in the first half. Not forwards that applies some pressure and doesnt kick goals like duds we seem to bring in ahead of him.

FMD he had 7 touches and your posting like he won the game for Richmond and won the Norm Smith

7 touches
no tackles
no goals

My god some people are happy with such little things

Yep. Collingwood had free reign of the corridor and we couldn't move the ball at all. Their game plan simply owned us. Selection is not the only thing Dimma is stuffing up right now.

Some seriously negative football IQ takes in here on Noah. From the moment he came on, he was in our best 3 players. Predictable
What about our kick in's, to the same place every time, wide to the right pocket or wing. On one occasion (probably more) last night the whole fat side of the ground was open and our wingman was 30m wide on his own, but the kicker looked at him and nah, better follow team orders. So predicable that the Woods just lined up in numbers and locked us in.

But 4 of those touches from memory resulted in goals or easy shots on goal. That's not so little in a game where we barely scored in the first half.

He was chasing and applying pressure as well, as Dimma has challenged him to do.

Our forward line will look a lot more dangerous if he replaces Riewoldt imo. Gotta think about the future.

He was certainly running better than the rest of the players on the ground and was energetic and moving but as we have seen with most subs that come on later the difference between them and the players that have started is they are fresh.

Last night was a hard running game in the wet and cumberland came on after half time full of energy similar to mansell the previous week when he came on in the last quarter and had 3-4 touches and kicked a goal the minute he came on.

Its not the same as starting the game. you know that
Cumberland is not replacing Riewoldt any time soon

Rioli junior is the opposite at the moment. All the pressure acts in the world, but then he gets his hands on the ball and bloody panics. I’d like to think the two players deficiencies even eachother out but not sure if it quite works like that. That being said Cumberland creates goals and with only one goal to half time last night that’s exactly what we farken need
