Thing I see in him is that agility and desire to have a go. He may well be a tall ruck rover who rests forward. Or fills a KPF spot, then rucks as needed.

But he is a mobile guy who can play as another mid, much like Nank. Looks to me like we are 1) really trying to have a solid forward line, and 2) are crystal balling it and thinking that running agile rucks are the future.

I like it, but surprised. Hear Dodson might go the US for basketball makes this a lot more sensible.

Seems a little bit like Casboult in the sense that he has hands like glue but his finishing can be pretty average

With Yze having experience previously as the kicking coach back in his Hawthorn days hopefully we can improve that side of his game but either way I think he’s going to be really fun to watch with some fantastic highlights but some massive lowlights 😂

Kinda like a tall version of Castagna

The word is he's still growing, so may eclipse 200cm

That would make a lot of sense. 201+ = good ruck eight. And he look solid already.

Risky, but high return if he can turn his agility and size into AFL talent.

both will be depth for Nank. One of the KPFs will be back up ruck on game day. So Sims ruck in the VFL makes Ryan VFL permanent forward. Takes a spot from Grey, Fawcett, Bauer.

Ridiculous Tall fwd lines. VFL Ryan, Kosi, Fawcett, Bauer, Grey, Lefau.

Fawcett, Gray just don't play VFL games at all.

Same in the backline. Blight, Young

Wouldnt give up on Fawcett and Gray, let them have a preseason, neither have had one before. There is no guarantee that they cant be better than what we have just drafted.

Also Lefau surely wont be playing much VFL, he fits in too well at AFL level.

I like lefau running up and back on a wing, half forward flank. He's a good link, I think they see that him.

Some things to really like:
Grabs the ball at the top of his reach. Most don’t.
Big shoulders and frame, the power he will develop will be exciting.
Big strong mitts.
With athleticism and the traits above he will rarely be out marked when he doesn’t take the grab, creating opportunities for Hotton, Clarke, Steely, MRJ
Booming kick.

He’s very much a work in progress, but upside…

kicking around the corner and other techniques can improve kicking for goal depending on the circumstances

We had to regenerate our forward line it was bare. Lefau is injured, undersized and let’s face it not much chop. Kosi is not any good, lynch is finished and Fawcett is a project. Ryan can’t mark and gray might be ok but who knows.
This kid can mark and is a bit bigger than faull and Armstrong with good agility. Like it a lot

I really liked the way le fau went about it. But he was not great. 25 y.o. rugby convert. Played mostly in a Lynch & Balta less fwd line. Another ACL injury and 3 kids drafted who can play his spot. Armstrong, Faull and Sims.

Coming off a spoon, the ready to go kids get first crack IMO. Especially Armstrong, Faull & Smilie & Trainor.

Nothing against Fawcett, Blight or Gray but 2 mid season draftees ~ usually short careers. 6 month contact'd be better than 18 month.

Fawcett just sick/injured all year. Looked OK in the VFL but take a miracle to save his career. Especially with Armstrong, Faull and Sims. & Smilie & Trainor being drafted. Trainor can even play forward.

Lefau is also a lot older too, he turns 27 next year and is already the 10th oldest on our list
I do like him though and I think he'll be a good forward for us while the new kids take a couple of years to fill out

I reckon Lefau could be a decent Half forward flanker at least as depth or as a stopgap.
Definitely has the endurance and mobility to play further away from goal.

Blight and Gray were both Toce selections so I have more than a little faith they can become players. Blight has come back in great condition from the off season, a very good sign.
So so sad what happened with CT, would have been an outstanding Recruiting Boss for us. Will be interesting to see who the Club appoint to replace him.
