I think West Coasts first 3 goals were due to X giving away the free kick.

But we can wear it as he was so dominant.
Gave our midfielders first use and if we had a proper centre half forward, then we would have capitalised on our forward 50 entries. McGovern basically kept them in the game.

But it’s great to start seeing him take marks around the ground and behind the ball. And that chase on Ryan when no else wanted to was all heart.

Well done big fella 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
To be fair to the other players no one was in the position to chase

Gee Liam Ryan is a slow plodder if Xerri is catching you in the last quarter playing 90% ruck. Not taking it away from him, that was bloody awesome, the grit, determination, hunger, pure shinboner was written all over his face. Team lifting stuff, inspirational.

I particularly like how the game trolled X making him get to the ruck contest after that effort. :tearsofjoy:
I noticed that. Also noticed he made it to the contest and looked like he wasn't cooked. Can't remember how it went tho.

Nah he just cut the angle well and put his head down and ran. i think Ryan thought he had him until the last ten or so metres when he suddenly realised he might be had by X

I think the WCE ruck got in front of him and won it marginally, but I thought what an effort to just get there and compete.
yeah. He's down a power of work over the last few years to be fit enough to play out games.

All this stuff about us not being fit enough but obviously X is.

Even with the early frees, happy to wear that stuff if it's him manhandling opponents like Diving Darling.

Quite enjoying his style of play now and hopefully the cohesion with the mids keeps improving.

Todd had touch (No not that) Tristan will never have. But Tristan has a genuine ferocity and big man presence that was never a natural part of Todd's game.

That was the moment of the season for me, it didn't arrest West Coast's momentum, but it showed his teammates that he will fight till the end.

making this guy your whipping boy is not going to go well for you.

very promising return. huge potential.
ive been warning you for years what will happen if he gets an injury free run. amazing how wrong so many people were about this player.

the tone to the criticism xerri receives is pretty crook too.

hes having an astounding year. unique player. he is not far off the best rucks in the game. not far off at all.

What Xerri did there is going when it’s your turn.

Sometimes it’s needing to put your head in the hole to get the ball.

Sometimes it’s willing yourself to chase a bloke you have no right to catch.

It’s heart on a football field and leadership of actions.

Was awesome to see.

He doesn’t take contested marks and his tap work is very ordinary. He scrape just inside the top 10.

Still pretty young for a ruckman, how old was english before he became consistent?

Iam not expecting him to be the next dean cox but the way he is improving there appears to be a bit more room before he hits his ceiling yet.

Much better today. Less taking it out of the ruck, more tapping it towards our midfield. Makes a big difference.
I think that this is a bit of a myth that has been circulating around here. This was the first game where we actually had our first choice midfield all in there whereas WC had Reid and Kelly missing. X has been grabbing it out because the mids were giving him stuff all and it was often the best option. It was hit it Luke or grab it. He didn't actually have any more hitouts to advantage than he normally does, but George and Jy both had great games which helped more than anything. Interestingly, whilst Luke had an excellent game, he only had 3 clearances, they shared the load. Hopefully for the rest of the year we can run with a more settled group of Simpkin, Wardlaw, LDU, Powell and Sheezel for X to work with.

Best chase since Gavin Urquhart hunted down Farren Ray.
Was Gav filling in during a 2016 pre-season intraclub?

Neon Liam Ryans hasn't been much chop for a long time. He's the new versions of the eagle Nic Nat, gets the ball **** all times and is a champion.
