Again this week Harro has been benched why is this happening?
He does not appear to be injured or playing poor so why is it happening?

I am at a loss to answer this so it over to you.

Was wondering the same thing Doc

Saw Harro get the first clearance of the game and a few tackles and then didn't see him for the rest of the game!

Would have thought the conditions and tempo of the game would have suited the Hurricane down to the ground (no pun inteneded - but a good one anyway

) not to mention the character lessons to be gained.

But who am I to argue with Pags

Hurricane got a good run in the first half but didn't see much action in the second half. Seemed that Pagan did that to give Rawlings, Sinclair and Jones more gametime. CIK's fave CMcK was off for much of the second half as well.

Post-match discussion on the various radio stations was about how much players' experience helped in the wet conditions. Stuff like reading the play and the movement of the ball, and even simple stuff like going for chest marks instead of overhead, etc.
It was discussed that North, having a more experienced line-up, was better able to adapt their game plan (and individual playing styles) to the conditions, largely due to more experience.
Maybe this was what Denis was thinking when he benched Harris.

Well Sav did leave early at training on Friday and I'm told that Pagan never allows anyone to go unless there's a good reason. I'd say he had a bit of a "niggle" and this is why he was the tall to make way for an extra runner on Sunday. I think Darky's reasons for Harro being benched were probably correct. Pagan just went for the experienced players in the conditions. At least he got to sing the club song after a real win at last!

I heard Duck screaming out him to pick up a player in the forward pocket in the first quarter. Stevo ran over to get him, but he was more intent on being in the play. So Denis dragged him, had a word and he came back on. He did the same thing when he came back on, so he didn't get much of a run.

Ok that may have been the reason for this week but that cannot be the reason for the previous weeks.

If this is right... Fair enough...

I have to admit that I thought having the Hurricane in the centre would be best for us. He has such quick hands. Maybe he couldn't distinguish who was who in that rain!
Hopefully D. Smith can join him after a run in the midfield in the two's. I think he will be a different player after that.
MOTI.

Well shite maybe Denis just doesn't like blondes (only joking).... shite I am sure there is a good reason (have no idea what it is)...

all I can say is.... have a little faith girls and boys... this man is the greatest coach this club has ever seen... and if he is benching him there must be a reason...

I do think that Dennis is holding him back abit. Benching him to teach him that this is round 3,4 & 5 and this is your game 3,4,and 5 so "Dont get ahead of youself son" Could be the words that he has said.
He will be a superstar for us and if his first 5 games are spent on the bench they will be the least memorable moments in what will be a steller career. Rising star followed by a Brownlow within 6 years - he is good enough.

The word is that Harro is not following instructions.

Expect to see him improve in the next few weeks and get more game time.

This is where we are missing Belly - he was a great yapper and would have been invaluable with harro and smith teaching them the tricks of the trade.

From what I've seen at training and at the games is that Kingy is taking on some sort of on field coach role. He is last or close to it of the track at training. Always talking to the kids and to the blokes down on form . I never noticed Bell hanging around much after training. How excited was Kingy for Diggers. This is what its all about. He would make a very good coach Kingy he is a good speaker and he takes no shit.

What instructions could Haro be getting wrong at the moment sit down and watch. Shit that's what I do and it aint that hard.

I agree with that - David King is close too, if not, our most valuable player at the moment.

He is one of the on field leaders and his enthusiasm is second to none. I particularly liked the high fives after his goal and his attempts to lift the crowd and fire everyone up.

Just to add to that........

I have been impressed with the level of enthusiasm on the field and in the rooms over the last two weeks. We have to face facts that we have a fairly inexperienced team, and by that I mean a number of new players to the club along with a number of players with less than 25 games, and will take a little while to gel on the field.

I don't think we are out of it yet this year, close to it though, and will definitely be up there in 2002.

Don't forget Essendon were 14th in 1997. Every team has its ups and downs and we now have a team with a fair percentage of younger and inexperienced players.

The best thing is that even if they are getting flogged the morale is not that low.

Success will come when a few of the senior players lift and get over the scars of last years finals and get some of the young players and Kingys enthusiasm.

Just heard today, more or less from the horses mouth, that Daniel Harris has "done his back" and won't play again this year. Apparently he's still entitled to full match payments for the rest of the season so he's reasonably happy about that at least. What a shocking run with injuries we're having!
