Still don't reckon he would have thought that somebody else would be getting offered this much.
It's way too much in the scheme of things but that's what it takes to get a player to move.

AFL rules state there is an ability for the league to have a panel come together if they believe that compensation for a free agent leaving is deemed insufficient.


As I just said the AFL have the ability to change the compensation offered if it is deemed insufficient. They could use what Dangerfield got in a trade when Adelaide threatened to match and say Richmond get a first round pick and a pick after where the second round pick would have been. But then again who knows it's the AFL, they barely know what they are doing from one day to the next.

Not to mention when have the AFL ever done Richmond any favours, if Dusty goes first how does a club that lives off handouts afford the money on offer and second you can bet we will be screwed on the compensation.

It also freed up their cap which allowed them to sign Dangerfield. What goes around comes around. We lose Martin this year we get someone else the next year.

Plenty of FAs next year. If Dusty goes I'd be looking at Rory Sloane.

Ricky Nixon is a bit precious. All I did was simply screenshot a couple of his tweets when he said Dusty was staying at Richmond in an answer to one of his tweets asking "when did I ever say Dusty was 100% staying?" and I've subsequently been blocked.

He'd still be odds on to re-sign with us at the moment, and I still think he probably will.

If Norf really do put a stupidly big deal in front of him and he wants to take the money then good luck to him, we can't and shouldn't match. Would be a shame to his football legacy though.

Welcome to the club. Slowly working my way through the precious flowers that are AFL 'journalists'. So far Blobbo, The Trade Whisperer aka Scoop Maclure, Tony Sheahan and Toot Took Chicken Nixon have chucked a tanty when questioned about their inside info. Thankfully there are a few who are prepared to back their claims up further when questioned quickly sorts the wheat from the chaff.

This is just it and how things will probably go in the future with FA.
Say for example a Martin ends up being offered a massive pay day to leave then somebody will be getting a pay rise to go to Richmond and so on.
Swings and roundabouts and a lot of player movement in the future.
