I gotta say, the great one has taken a couple of ripper contested overhead marks the last 2 weeks.
He has definitely improved that aspect.

He looks so weird when marking overhead, it just seems so unnatural.

But his marking has been great. Just need him to get the kicking going.

My Dad sits in the MCC and swears the opposite is true.

I guess we all want the players 10m from us and only remember when they’re not!

I disagree with your father, respectfully of course.

i think that they go the mcc wing is due to bench location.

Your dad's spot on. I'm MCC too and don't know about other teams but go to practically every Tiges game. It's infuriating the plays easily 70% other wing. Even worse when you've got kids with you on the fence cracking the sooks cos they're watching most of the game on the big screen and just wanna see the players up close. No shortage of people talking out their arse around here.

He didn't even make it to round 3 before needing a break, got to say it's starting to become pretty concerning for the champ. The whole idea he could sit in the forward line until 35 looks more and more like a dream as each year goes on.

I came to say the same thing - how fit can he be if he was sore after round 1 for the adelaide game according to Nank. For mine that's telling - he's nowhere near fit enough, dont care what the club says

Just like lids hey, everyone thought hed play forever until the injuries struck.

sad to see champs end up this way.

to be fair, id did look like he took a big hit to the legs just before he was subbed on Saturday, I immediately thought it could have caused some knee damage.

Now it appears it hasn't, so I'm pretty happy with the outcome to be honest.

And at the end of the day, for our team to improve, we just need more out of Dusty than we got last year, we don't expect 2017-18 Dusty, so if he plays 15 out of 22 games, averaging 20 possies and a goal, it's an improvement on last year.

The Taranto and Hopper do their thing to improve the middle, Prestia is fit at the right part of the season.

It's not a lot needed to be honest to jump from 7th into the top 4.

I would rather him miss the game if he's sore, then play, take up a spot and be a liability out there for the team (which is a concern with other)

Yep. The issue is Martin needs a good big block of games leading into finals to build some seriously good form mixed with a strong fitness base. Unless you have a good run at it you won't have power and a good cardio base. The only player who seems to pull this off is Prestia, most cannot and Martin is definitely a Rolls Royce that needs a long warm up. At least 4-5 weeks for him leading up to finals to have an impact.

Above all it's just sad how fast now his body seems to be failing him. It's now a regular occurrence for him out be out multiple games or finish games on the bench. We can't rely on him now to finish out games. He's only 31 years old and not even playing an intensive role. It's 100% forward with no midfield time at all.

Seems reminiscent of Lids. Was an iron man until 30 and then just problem after problem. Once it's repeat soft tissue injuries it's hard to recover.

I hope the club has been planning for the end of Dusty because the end is coming faster than we thought.

Would be wise to actually plan for him to play maximum 15 games and no more, regardless of how the body is feeling. He's still a valuable contributor, but probably not that game winner anymore (which is understandable and fine).

Barnzy while his role right now isn't as intense, it has been in the past. Especially the explosive nature in which he played. Maybe he didn't get injured doing that in the past, but you can't do that forever and it be OK.

Agree 100%, he will be back, all he needs is the above, a good block of games.

Dusty had a solid pre season, don't think he missed a session except for when he was rested so the fitness base is there. When you're over 30 tho the hammies and calves start to become a factor and we just have to be careful how we manage him. If he has a twinge or is sore, there's no point playing him in a R3 game just to stroke everyone's egos. He's a finely tuned race horse getting the kid glove treatment so he can have a strong Spring campaign.

A bit like the posters who thought Shane Edwards could play until he was 37.

I didn't see that knock, if that's the case and the main reason for the extra soreness then I'll take that. Fingers crossed its just that, bc otherwise, if its simply general soreness from playing or soft tissue, then the cliff has come

It’s hard to say if it’s “the cliff” even if it is a soft tissue injury

I thought Cotch was cooked in 2019 when he really started to get repeat soft tissue injuries again but he’s managed to produce some of his best footy in the past few years
Still copped a few more soft tissue injuries but the club seem to have found a balance and Trent has learnt to trust what his body can and can’t do

Dusty had never had any soft tissue issues until last year so it’s probably still some learning on both the docs and Dusty on how to manage them for him self

Looks like he’s moving alright again
