why dont they just fold the suns into us. don't change our name or colours, we just get their best players. it makes sense. Here's a deal for GC and Dimma ....go fook yourselves !
Even looking at it just money wise, I think Dusty will be financially better off staying a tiger. He'll get his 300 games and the money from all the merchandise that will bring in, then when he retires there will be more merchandise to sell to the Tiger army celebrating his career. Plus staying a Tiger will put him up there with Jack Dyer as far as club legends are concerned.AFL will try anything.
They changed rules after studying us which is unprecedented in any team sport in the World.
Imagine Fifa changing rules against Barcalona back in the day because they were too good with Messi?
Even Fifa did not stoop that low as the AFL.
Removing our GOAT is another process by the dirty AFL to weaken our club like having candlelit dinners with Dimma.
I hope the GOAT stays.
I think he will too,he is a Richmond man.
Never underestimate the AFL’s corruption level.Even looking at it just money wise, I think Dusty will be financially better off staying a tiger. He would absolutely qualify for ambassador payments that would make a portion of his salary outside the cap and the afl would probably make it a very healthy amountNever underestimate the AFL’s corruption level.
Dusty will own half of Cavil street next year
100% it willHe would absolutely qualify for ambassador payments that would make a portion of his salary outside the cap and the afl would probably make it a very healthy amount
If he wants to go and the suns are keen it will happen
Is that a smaller version of Cavill ave?Never underestimate the AFL’s corruption level.
Dusty will own half of Cavil street next year
Always 1 wise guyIs that a smaller version of Cavill ave?
Well you are.100% it will
But apparently I’m clueless
Does anyone really believe that after 10 years refusing to be part of the media circus Dusty is suddenly going to agree to be an ambassador at the Suns. No way. As for the meeting between Dusty and Dimma, does anyone thing that Dusty wouldn't catch up with Dimma when he was in the GoldCoast. Dimma coached him for ten years and supported him when he lost his father. The media are taking a small fact and them concocting a fantasy around it. Let's just wait and see.He would absolutely qualify for ambassador payments that would make a portion of his salary outside the cap and the afl would probably make it a very healthy amount
If he wants to go and the suns are keen it will happen
And from the clubs perspective he is a contracted player for next season. So if he leaves now the club should be adequately compensated.Well you are.
But not this time
None of us want Dusty to leave but a lot of people are letting emotions cloud the situation
Like I said and I agree with you if Dusty wants to head up north and the suns want him it will absolutely happen and no amount of wishful thinking with stop it
I don’t even really understand the anger at Dimma towards it
No one if holding a knife to Dusty’s throat at the end of the day it’s completely his decision to make
If people should get shitty at anyone it should be Dusty since he would be the one leaving us
But I don’t even see the point in that
At the end of the day I support the Richmond Tigers not the Richmond Dusty’s
Ambassador payments aren’t just to do media and whatnot it’s about bums on seats and more people watching the suns games, getting them on the front or back page of the newspapers giving club sponsors lots of publicity and advertising through photos of Dusty in a GCS jumper or club poloDoes anyone really believe that after 10 years refusing to be part of the media circus Dusty is suddenly going to agree to be an ambassador at the Suns. That’s all I care about at this stageAnd from the clubs perspective he is a contracted player for next season. So if he leaves now the club should be adequately compensated.
Just stand by for the AFL to ream us.That’s all I care about at this stage
Like I have said a few times
I don’t want him to leave but if he does intend on doing it in terms of getting a return on that move it must be this year otherwise he walks next year for nothing anyway
True, but I think you'd be a bit naive if you didn't think Dimma would want Dusty at GCS.Things are played out behind closed doors not out in the general public.
Agree with all of what you are saying, except at the end of next year he will be a free agent.Martin is going nowhere in 2024. Club will make $5m profit from his 300th and retaining him on the list - huge crowd at his 300th game, memberships (imagine how many members don’t renew if Dusty leaves on the back of Cotch and Jack?), 300th memorabilia etc….. Not in a million years are we giving up our best player (who is under contract) and $5m for a mediocre draft pick.
End of 2024 if he requests a trade the club will facilitate it. But they won’t in this off-season. There’s just no upside for RFC.
Regardless , GC need draft picks for academy kids, they are zero chance of giving away any picks worth our consideration for Martin. And a year after off loading Bowes and pick-7 in a salary dump they’re in the market for a $1.3m 32yo? Its just not gonna happen unless we pay half his salary ..:. which isn’t going to happen …(read point 1 above).

Dude there's 17 other clubs that would love Dusty at their club, just like there's 17clubs that would love Petracca, Cameron x2, Rozee, etcTrue, but I think you'd be a bit naive if you didn't think Dimma would want Dusty at GCS.
Coulda worked if the back injury had not robbed the GOAT games to make 300!I’m in two minds, a head vs heart situation
Heart says * that Dusty should stay but my head thinks it could be a great opportunity to help set up this next phase we are entering by getting back into the 1st round and/or getting a talented young player
Win/win for me
Prefer for him to stay but wouldn’t be a complete loss if we went and as others mentioned this year works better because he is still under contract Vs next year he could walk for nothing back in return
If Dusty is OK with publicity photo shoots etc why hasn't Richmond exploited that. According to press reports a couple of years ago Dusty swims in the bay at night to avoid attention. The media continually complain that he wouldn't do they interview stops after games. I don't think he is going to consent to any more publicity than he has to.Ambassador payments aren’t just to do media and whatnot it’s about bums on seats and more people watching the suns games, getting them on the front or back page of the newspapers giving club sponsors lots of publicity and advertising through photos of Dusty in a GCS jumper or club polo
He would meet the criteria
I think you have misunderstood what qualifies a player for the ambassador paymentsIf Dusty is OK with publicity photo shoots etc why hasn't Richmond exploited that. I think if GoldCoast want bums on seats they should try getting into the finals. They already tried the ambassador thing with Garry Ablett and that didn't work. Dimma loves a microphone, and he is a good media performer so I think he would provide better ambassadorial promotion than Dusty. If the AFL allowed GoldCoast to hide some of Dusty's salary in ambassadorial payment it would just be a rort.
