this just made me cry. Living in QLD during the 90s we had no info regarding this. i have never known that it was so rubber stamped that they interviewed a RFC official about it. i cant believe all taht happened and the AFL refused to sign off on it. We would have had a premiership by 1996 had that happened.
This makes me hate the swans more than ever..... they have just overtaken the Pies and Blues as my most hated.

Apparently according to Ricky they are going to train 50/50 Moorabbin/Seaford

I just don't get how his manager can risk the likelihood of a long term injury for so long and NOT have him signed up somewhere.
If he does a knee he's out of pocket $4 million as nobody will go more than a two year contract after watching Jaeger's year. That's a lot of money to risk on haggling an extra 15%.
Plus if he gets that 15% he's basically killing his chances of a premiership due to the cap.
I see a possible Martin to GC, Ablett to Cats, 1st rounder to Tigers. The league would love that. Tigers not so much.

Maybe but his pay has jumped 300k because they didn't sign. It's a risk and this one has paid handsomely for Dusty and Carr

AFL strike again,hate them and Sydney for being colas but that was the AFL anyway so I place blame on the two rats.

If Gil sends Dusty to Gold Coast,footy is dead.

Every effin time we get the club in order,someone plays their grand final on us.

Peggy,Benny and Dimma and the coaching staff forever have their hands tied by the stench of the AFL.

The pantomime of Dusty and media furless rats trolling Richmond all year has done my head completely in,haven't felt as low as when Rioli went to Sydney,wonder if the AFL had a say in that?

Well the players and the PA wanted free agency didnt they.

i guess it just feels annoying as we havent really gotten a gun from free agency.

Id probably feel less annoyed about the system if wed picked up a franklin through it.

Yeah I know, the players wanted it, they have every right to maximise their earning and set themselves up for life after footy, but it sure does suck as a supporter.

I was living up there at that time. Don't remember anything about the Lockett story, I only found out recently about the Tiger connection. I hadn't followed footy much for a while from when I left Victoria and went up there until 1994/95 when i rediscovered the passion for footy big time!!!
What i do remember is that until Lockett and their big year in 1996 virtually NOBODY except ex-pat Vics cared about AFL. I knew a couple of people I could talk to about it that were originally from here but NSW folk couldn't have cared less about it. All of a sudden in 1996 I remember they suddenly became "our Swannies". It was sickening BUT it certainly did a lot to get NSW rugby league fans interested. It became something you could discuss with all of your colleagues. I even had an AFL tipping contest at work around then that had everyone in it. I went to a couple of our games at the SCG with a mate from work that had been one of those people that hated it before 96, he LOVED rugby league but got right into AFL too after that.
So what I'm saying is it had the desired effect but **** the AFL anyway!!!
