We arenot going to get anything decent from north so I would delist him now and force them to use their pick probably pick 20 in the national draft. At least then they cant nab another junior player player in the draft to improve their list.
That would be funny.lol

And as the old saying goes.
What goes around comes around.
Now it may not be us but i can assure you clubs do take notes on each other.
Young Powell a SA boy.Crows have form on bringing home kids via the psd.
Bet you won't too smug about it if that happens eh.

It's just how the system works. All we can do is manage Toms opportunity & contract over the next 3 years.
They're also hardly comparable as Powell played more games in his first year then CCJ did in 4...

Hardly surprising where the clubs are at.CJ would be upto 100 games now at north.

How does that work? I would have thought we would just pick him up for free in the PSD if he was delisted

If we don't match the offer he goes PSD If we delist him he has to go into the draft so open slather I think. Even then once they choose a club they end up there as other clubs don't tend to rob each other. So best to take what they give us and move on.
I'm not convinced he's going BTW.

I still reckon CCJ has the upper hand here in this trade...prolly holding out for a decent trade pick to the Tigers from Norff...mainly because CCJ is aware of the grief he caused the Club with Kabbagate...in soft cap penalties/job losses...or I would like to think so...

Doesn't work that way, as a previously listed player he can choose to just skip the National Draft

The moment Richmond re-signed Jack Riewoldt, I thought this would happen.
I took the view this was inevitable. It was a choice between the two.
Remains to be seen if the choice is the right one.
Not inevitable...I reckon Samson Ryan's promising display in the Ressies showed their long term thinking...combined with the return of Soldo from LTI it was worth the risk with JR8 being resigned...on field leader/coach who SR could learn off...

I think some people are over rating CJ. He's been with us 4 years played 9 games and kicked 11 goals. By comparison Jack Reiwoldt after 4 years had played 68 games and kicked 135 goals.
It’s interesting that Blair and co decided to boost our ruck stocks last year (Ryan and Colina). Ok Soldo went down with an ACL, but these 2 guys are long term prospects.

Maybe just smart list management or maybe we think Chol and CJ aren’t going to be frontline ruckman (or kpf). They’re pretty much both inbetweeners- good second ruck options and able to pinch hit forward.

Thats what puts us in a pickle with both Chol and CJ leaving. We have no backup if a ruck or KPF goes down next year. But yeah I don't think the club sees either as being crucial to our team going forward. Otherwise we would have offered a longer contract.

It wasn’t a choice. Jack just kicked 50+ goals and is a Tiger legend who has taken unders for a decade to remain loyal. Are you seriously suggesting we should have delisted or traded Jack to enable more opportunity for CJ ?

CJ wants to be a ruck-fwd, not fwd-ruck. I don’t care if Jack has a shocking 2022 and retires mid-season - trading or delisting him in favour of CJ would have ripped the heart out of the club, as what happened at the Demons when they got rid of James McDonald and Robbo ahead of time.

And how have the Hawks gone since moving aside Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis?

Crazy talk to ever think there was a decision to be made between Jack and CJ.

I find it interesting looking at the Dogs and the Dees KPF's, apart from flopper Brown, neither of them have one (Naughton, maybe, but he plays further up the ground)

Fritsch?

Agreed but it’s hard to sell to the player that they are there as backup.

Apparently both Chol and. CJ decision was partly due to the amount of football they’ve played over the last 2 years due to COVID and the chance that VFL football could be affected again next year.

Soldo returns and plays alongside Nank while Chol/CJ wait in the wings, possibly not playing at any level for 3rd year

Yes they are purely back ups.

CCJ is Lynch insurance.
But we do have Dusty and Caddy to play in the forward line if needs be. And Ryan should be developed as a more mobile tall forward that better fits long term. It may be that he ends up getting more games next year regardless.

If Nank goes down we have to play the one ruck in Soldo and vice versa.

If CCJ is open to moving to another Melbourne based club, not just Nth Melbourne, it could throw us a life line and we could still push for a fairer trade. He might be open to assisting us due to those much publicised indiscretions and the club supporting him through that period. However, I understand it’s a speculative proposition. To get a better trade we need to create a bidding war.

I don’t think so. From Riewoldts comments over the past 24 hours he knows the players are disappointed and he will just want to get out of there.

Jack has 22 games left in his career

If the choice was between the 2, it’s clearly the wrong one

No other club will offer him 5 years. Too risky. It’s done. We will push for pick 20. They will push for 38. We may end up with a slight compromise between the two (such as an upgrade of our second rounder thrown in, which would be the best deal we would get.
