Well within the realms of his talent that he could be a 30 goal per year half forward.

Kicked 15 last year from 18 games with plenty of time as sub or playing up the ground more.

Still think he does his best work close to goal, but will have to improve his repeat defensive efforts if he is going to settle in that position.

Our forward line dynamic changes considerably IF Curtis, Zurhaar and Ford can apply more pressure. Having a genuine crumber with elite speed (RJH, Konstanty anyone?) would help in that regard too.

Going to be interesting to see how Ford and Duursma fit in with the likes of Sheezel, Parker and Simpkin spending more time forward in 2025 too.

He simply doesn’t fit without injuries to the players you named.

Zurhaar, Curtis, Sheezel, Parker, RHJ (different position, but still a forward) all ahead.

Larkey, Darling and possibly Teakle to fit there as well.

I still see room for him, particularly if Duursma isn’t ready to go at the start of the season. That ability to push up to a wing is a big positive when it comes to bench flexibility. Hopefully Powell can rotate through the midfield and across half back to free up another spot for a half forward/midfielder

F: Curtis, Larkey, RHJ
HF: Zurhaar, Darling, Sheezel
Mid (1st rotation): Xerri, Parker, LDU
Mid (2nd rotation): Xerri, LDU, Wardlaw
Mid (3rd rotation): Xerri, Sheezel, Powell

Bench: Teakle, Simpkin (mid,hf), Ford (wing,hf)

Question is... Does Eddie get selected before FOS for round one?

Personally, I don't think FOS will be ready to go early in the season. From what I've been told we've been managing his loads/building his body up. Taking a more conservative approach due to all the small niggly injuries he had last year.

Probably also being conservative as we can due to depth in the midfield and a glut of players 20-25 that are ready who need games now (for development or to have a career next year). Suspect it would change pretty quickly if we have personnel issues or if he smashes it out of the park over the next 5-6 weeks.

He ought to be doing his damndest to make the selectors want him in the team for round one, as a starting player.
Yep. And in all honesty we as a team will be better off the sooner we stop needing even top 5 picks to be ready come round 1 of their first season.
