The reality is we need more mids, and despite being a bit behind the other young mids in conditioning, he's already outperforming them.

He's not going to satisfy our need for a big bull contested mid, but he's just about a guaranteed upgrade on Aarts.

Daicos and Horne-Francis or Ward who absolutely killed it in the midfield during the pre season games didn’t even line up as Mids this week
If they aren’t ready for decent midfield mins no chance Sonsie would be

It’s far to early for Draftees to be going into the mid rotation apart from one or two centre bounces

If he did come in it would be as a high half forward

Yeah I'm not suggesting he comes in as a starting midfielder in the team. He'd just be an extra rotation and would probably play low minutes and spend a bit of time forward.

But wouldn’t someone like Dow RCD Martyn ect be a better option instead of jumping straight to a draftee

Can offer just as much (for now) but at least spend some more time in the midfield where we have the most obvious problems

I know it’s exciting having a great midfield prospect and we want to see what our new toy has but playing him early does both him and the side a disservice when we have guys more suited

But you have to reward them on merit, and Sonsie is outperforming these guys in the VFL practice matches.

Sonsie oozes sheer class in that he doesn’t panic, moves well, fantastic around contests reading the drop of the ball and is an A grade kick. Yes, certainly needs to bulk up and gain experience but he's going to be a gun player imo. I’d get him in asap. Dimma mentioned in his interview on TT that he’s a natural player who just finds the ball.
we need him in the side as soon as they think he can handle it.

He’s really only performed better in one match I would wait to see a form line before rushing him in

Sonsie better than Aarts. Seriously that's a statement by

Apologies for the previous sarcastic post. But yeah, Sonsie is a classy player who looks like he can be A grade silk. Aarts is a battler who gets by on effort.

Yep. He needs conditioning in running and building core. He would get monstered in the middle. But on a flank, he could show his wares if the match committee think he has the run in the legs.

I’m a big wrap for him and hope to see his debut live on Sunday, but not at the expense of a mid.

I think the main query is can he play the inside mid game. I think in the role he has played has been pretty good, but is there scope for him to go inside and be an inside mid, after last week there is an obvious need for one.

Yeah apologies for playing my part in derailing the Sonsie thread

Nothing more frustrating than jumping into a thread and reading pages of opinion on a different player

Anyway hoping Sonsie can kick arse in the VFL games and be playing AFL asap. Reckon once he gets the km into his legs he’ll have no problems adjusting to the top level, really clean one touch player

I get the feeling Dimma wants to play this guy soon…Like when he was talking about Marlion in ‘19…I’m probably wrong, but these are the moments I’m looking forward to…

Might actually not give away 100m penalties too.

Graham better sharpen up or he can p155 off back to the 2s.

Sonsie is a classy Goal kicker so can play fwd. Why not him for Aarts castagna but i prefer Cumberland for Castagana.
Lets be honest though Dow RCD Martyn have hardly set the world on fire to demand a game before him but they are older supposed inside mids which needs addressing.
Really what is stopping us bringing in RCD Dow for Prestia and say Graham or Rioli. Attempting to at least address inside mid problems.

Panic merchant Rioli crumbled against carlton every time he had pressure put on him.
Graham is not an inside mid in fact he gives us very little when it comes to clearances and contested possesion to go with that his outside game is nothing special either.
