He kicked the long ball onto Samsons chest at the top of the goal square, didn't he? Off a step.
Probably, but that's one kick. His kicking has been anything but elite though

Where has his "elite" kicking gone :(
That turn over he did with the dinky kick into the middle from half back was very frustrating.
The thing is, he doesn't get it enough in order for me to excuse a lot of poor ball use. His hands were elite and there was one I think in the last quarter where I think even the camera/commentary didn't realize he gave it off so fast to the player running by. However, the third attempt on goal was inexcusable. He needs to be slotting those as he is the classy finisher and when he gets those opportunities he needs to take them, especially from a set shot. The two where he hit the post were both very high degrees of difficulty, which he is good enough to pull off but I won't crucify him for those.

I'm hoping it will all come together soon where he will end up kicking 3-4 goals and end up having a significant impact.

Bolded is a key point for me. He doesn't get it enough to be making such simple mistakes and missing targets. Especially when he is not entrenched on the best 22.

yeah lets just play tim turnover, im sure everyone will be thrilled, and we can bash a kid trying to make his way. great effort.

Gets 30 possies in VFL midfield in first couple of games and then put into half forward in the firsts. Would like to see him get in the middle a bit more - our seasons fooked and we’re not gonna make finals - perfect time to try him out there in patches. Bet he’s frustrated not getting a go in his preferred position

I’m not sure what most see in Sonsie.

I missed the game on the weekend so just watched the reply.

He is definitely a very frustrating player. His natural instinct is to try something flashy with ball in hand instead of the safe option, this leads to turnovers more often than not.

He lacks footy IQ.

First shot on goal, opposite foot almost gets it. Forgivable.. (should have been Dusty’s) ;)

Second shot, running in a straight line towards goal. Could have snapped on the opposite to improve the angle, goes for the check side banana and hit the post. skill error. Unforgivable.

Third shot, down right unforgivable. Directly in front after taking a strong mark and sprays it.

That mark + the quick handball over the head to set up Hugo in space was decent.

Does not have any physicality to play as a centre bounce midfielder. Mccauliffe already ahead of him there.

Reminds me of a Dan Butler, without the electric speed and goal sense.

Players need something that sets them apart from others and at the moment I am struggling to see what Sonsie offers the team.

Happy for him to prove me wrong in the long run if it means the club does well.

Jesus the bloke has played 18 games. He presented in great shape for pre-season. He is playing in the most dysfunctional and unstable forward line imaginable within his first 20 games at the level.

He will learn. It will get easier. He will eventually get a role that is suited to him. Then we will see how good he is or isn't. But his 1 wood is clearly his kicking either foot, something that will flourish as the team returns to normal competitiveness.

A lot of that is confidence i think.
The problem with him playing mid is that he cant play in there with Dow at the moment. Both are still too skinny and we would get demolished.
If Sonsie goes inside, Dow needs to go out but unfortunately Dow is a 1 trick pony.
