I'm still scratching my head over Scotts stupidity. It's almost unforgivable. He needs to start acting like a senior player and a leader, or one of the talented kids will get under his guard very soon. You can get old very quick in this game Scott, just ask Danny Pratt.

So far this season McMahon has looked very slow and sluggish hopefully it doesn't continue because we really need him firing!

Honestly... on form, it's no great loss.

He has looked glacial out there. Him and spud are terrible in hot weather, personally I would leave both of them out until the weather cools down.

They are slow and undisciplined, in fact, he needs to lose 3-4 kg during his time off and cut this moronic shit out. He was taken off a pensioner and Jmac was thrown to the wolves. If he can't play on Paul Chapman then who the **** can he play on?

I agree on your pints regarding MacMahon but you're way off regarding Spud. He was again one of our better players on the weekend after a sluggish start.

He was great last year, I'll give you that....

Didn't go to the game so couldn't tell how he moved off the ball etc but just thought his tackling and zest for the contest wasn't where it should be for a senior player wearing the #11.

If Firitto isn't sticking tackles or letting blokes get the hands off around goals, what hope do we have? And not only that but how can we expect the young blokes to put their life on the line (ala Atts) when the senior blokes are displaying less heart than Fruity Allison.

I think people really underrate Spud. He is very strong and rarely gets caught with it. Have a look at 2012 highlights particularly the Atley ones. He takes it in close shrugs contact allowing Ats or whoever to run by and bang we're rebounding into attack!!

while scott macmahon is off work for a couple of weeks praps we need to have a chat about his future
is he part of the problem or part of the solution

i think he is a good solid player
but is that good enuf
we do a lot of finger pointing at the back six
he isnt quick and he never breaks the lines
a good kick but not great
does some fabulous work but also stuffs up more than he should

my idea is to say goodbye to spud this year
and unless mcmahon gets better
and why isnt he really fit like a heath shaw i mean why not
i see him getting pushed out end of 2014

Well he has had an average pre-season, and cost himself a spot in the side because of a stupid act. He is a senior player and needs to really start showing it.

I'm sure he'll have a quiet frothy with Boomer in the stands, discussing the many aspects of 'Senior Leadership' that elude both of them.

Watch the games from last year without Scott McMahon is hilarious. We had no {#%*ing idea how to organise our line down back. He's invaluable. Yeah he mucked up, but quit the whole youth revolt trying to push he and Spud out, they're starting players.

He is invaluable. That's why I'm frustrated by the crap that got him suspended. It doesn't bother me that he has had a sluggish pre-season but it annoys me that he is not available for one of the most important games in our season.

That's what I thought. Suddenly he's a slug who will be replaced by some young up and comer. Who? I don't see anyone threatening for his spot just yet.

Sure, I'm disappointed with him. Disappointed that we wont have a good player we all agreed was crucial to out success last year. Disappointed that one injury or suspension makes me think 'holy crap, we are screwed', even now.

If there's someone better than Scotty, let them step up and keep him out in his absence, that'd be great. There wont be anyone for ages. He's a smart user of the ball and a cool, calm head under pressure, an easy going dude... who happens to sock people behind the play occasionally.

Never had a flu shot and never will. All my mates who have them seem to get sick and I think I've had the flu twice in 25 years.

Oh yeah nice article.

Good article. It doesn't seem fair that he is out for a week based on his version of events. Scott should have a look at how Andrew Swallow was 'legally' forced from the ground. Geelong have excellent defensive skills.

I had my flu shot, due to the nature of my employment and also because some family members have serious chronic health problems.
