But how many Brownlow votes has he polled?
The good news keeps pouring out of North Melbourne with two more player re-signings. Robbie Tarrant and Scott McMahon have both agreed to new deals, keeping each of them at Aegis Park until the end of the 2015 season.
“I’m absolutely pumped and it’s a huge weight off my back,” McMahon told NMFC.com.au.
“Extremely excited. It all happened so quickly and now I can now just look forward to playing some good footy and not have to worry about coming out of contract,” the 23-year old Tarrant explained.
The pair joins the likes of Daniel Wells, Jack Ziebell, Shaun Atley, Jamie Macmillan and coach Brad Scott on the list of those who have recently re-committed to the club.
Neither said they had any desire to look elsewhere and Tarrant said he will relish the opportunity to add to his Kangaroo games tally of 25.
“I’ve always felt like I’ve owed the club a great deal for what they’ve done for me,” Tarrant said.
“They’ve been really good to me over a number of years on the field and off the field. I was never not going to stay. As soon as they put something to Paul, my manager, I was happy to sign it.”
McMahon, 26, would have been a free agent at the end of this season but echoed Tarrant’s sentiments.
“I wouldn’t leave,” he said.
“Because North is pretty much my family. The club has treated me and my wife Des so well over the years.
“This new contract gives us some security, especially right now when we have baby number two on the way. The club is doing everything right by the players and the supporters in the way we’re headed. There’s so much to look forward to and I’m hoping we can win a premiership in my time.”
“When you look at the guys who have recently agreed to new deals, the future is good and I would have been crazy not to re-sign,” Tarrant added.
Love the sentiment of the players.
Leaves just Drew and Harps?

good solid dependable player

The others are Daw, Kennedy, Mullett, L.Delaney, Mabon, Sierakowski and possibly McKenzie and Curran.
I think that speaks for itself.I never really understood why McMahon was a fringe player under Laidley for a long time.
And possibly Keys under the most pressure to get another contract. I don't think re-signing them would be the issue, its more not wanting to retain them being an outcome.
I never really understood why McMahon was a fringe player under Laidley for a long time. He may have been young, but all those qualities mentioned in the article were always evident.
or even not being able to retain them, with the amount of list changes that have to happen. And possibly Keys under the most pressure to get another contract. I don't think re-signing them would be the issue, its more not wanting to retain them being an outcome.

I don't think Laidley held him back. He was drafted as an u18, played VFL reserves then VFL for the next 2 seasons then debuted and held his spot in his 3rd year.
It's actually a very good development path which I'd like to see more of. He earnt his spot.
Actually, you know a NM player is rated when opposition supporters and media say they are "under-rated", usually over and over again. Makes you wonder when they get to be "rated", short of playing for Collingwood.Really good defender. If he was at Collingwood would be rated through the roof externally. At NMFC he'll make do with being rated through the roof internally.
Definitely Keys. He's in all sorts. He's nearly 24 and couldn't even get a game in NAB 4 when just about every KPP on the list had a run.
