The thing about Gibson is that he won't become anything better than an average to good player in a team that wouldn't be above middle of the road. His flaws are damning and are consistent. His effort and run is and always will be solid. But as long as we have him an players like Gibson, we will be hit and miss North Melbourne.

I said in another thread that our middle tier are holding us back, Gibbo along with many others are vanilla and have flaws that can be exposed.

It is the crux of all our inconsistencies.

Gibbo has heart. And he runs all day.
But talk about setting the tone. WTF was that first kick of the game?
Gibbo unfortunately will not get us to a grand final or a flag.
Sure well pinch 12-14 wins, but ultimately in finals pressure when the heat is on, well crumble. Disappointing.

The whole 'this guy is mediocre and won't take us to a flag thing I hear getting trotted out all the time is a fallacy.

Throughout history average players have littered premiership winning sides. No such thing as a team full of 22 superstars. You need the foot soldiers just as much as you need the chiefs.

He is not a soldier, that is the issue.

If he cracked a few heads it would be ok. But he doesn't, he is soft, shit and error riddled.

Plays 1 good game ever 7weeks.

the modern game is set up to burn the opposition when they turn the ball over. Every week Gibson plays you have to accept he will cost us a few goals with his. The simple question to me is does his gut running make up for more than what his kicking cost us? I personally don't think it does

It did last year but he's hurt us more this year IMO

Agree with this point, but the problem is we don't have the right balance.

1999- Shane Clayton.

1996- Glenn Freeborn & Stuart Anderson.

Yeah but those average players you mention didn't have the likes of Bastinac, Jacobs, McMillan and Atley in their side aswell.

No AFL side wins a premiership with so many players who are sub-par at their role.

If you compare our foot soldiers especially Gibson to the likes of the Hawks and the Swans foot soldiers the difference is is that they can actually kick the ****ing football.
