They played soccer too. The big wigs couldnt have that.

Im not sure how it is relevant though.

Football isnt a game its a billion dollar industry and has been for some time.

I merely said I didnt like the look of SS incident due to being salty at the team losing significantly, again. I obviously love him as well all do.
We won a flag by remembering it's a game.

John Landy earned a statue for helping Ron Clarke to his feet during a race.

Kicking the cat after a loss is for losers.

very debatable mate.

won a flag by having a death or glory mentality

Cotchin, Grimes, Rance etc.
Everyone involved has spoken about rediscovering the joy of the game and how liberating it was. Beyond debate imo, it's established fact.

lets ask Dylan Shields

you can have joy and ruthlessness like the kamikaze
It’s also cause Shields didn’t protect himself as much as it was Cotch going to get the ball.
Maybe thats the difference between coming through the private school system and growing up in Resevoir.
But it was all about the ball

Exactly. Joy and ruthlessness.

The ball was dead when Stack acknowledged Betts' goal. The play was not happening. Anything he did at that point was irrelevant to the contest. But what he did elevated the game, and in the game-is-a-business sense, it was also wonderful PR for Sydney and the club. How anyone can see it in anything but a positive light is beyond me. Especially a hypocrite like Lyon, who was one of the architects of Melbourne's 2009 tankathon.

Look schmook back then, Gaddy, when you and your mates were grinning like Cheshire cats thinking you'd rorted the system. Poor Gaddy, I almost feel sorry for him. He is a lost, confused, bitter, old dummy who even in his 50s still mistakes machismo for masculinity. He needs a good cry.

Tex the Capt of the Crows has never made that mistake! ;)

He's some player Sydney Stack.

Loved his game, loved that he looked like he was enjoying playing football and not in that robot/cattle mentality that some has been and wanna be journos expect. The respect between Betts and Stack is something many of us don't and will never understand and this will go a long way to seeing more indigenous talent come into the game. Was a great moment in footy IMO.

You have another keeper.
This sums it up for me. Just when I think I've seen it all from Sydney. (the marking, the bump, the dance). That gesture b/n Stack & Eddie during a game.

It's a ******* game, not a war. It was nothing more or less than great sportsmanship.

Speaking of war, German and Allied troops stopped shooting at each other in WWI to sing Christmas carols in no man's land. There were probably a few disapproving hurrumphs from the landed gentry 20 miles from the front, but Tigers care not for the opinions of lambs.

how come?

gladiators > soldiers

Because when real war was fought and if you lost more than likely you didn’t come home to see your family.
You came home in a wooden box. Nothing romantic about war, just read about what real soldiers who survived have to say about it and the pain physical and mental that they endure. Respect for all servicemen and woman.

yeah, you can survive 10 falcons in a game of footy......try surviving a single bullet in the head...

Not even close, big difference between putting your body on the line on a sporting field versus the battle field.

Having served, it's insulting to hear the comparison is my point from my previous post which I'm assuming you didn't realise.

The great irony about Sydney Stack is that he was not drafted for lack of maturity and doubts on his stability and background. To me his behaviour on a footy field is so far beyond his maturity in years, his character and obviously the way he was brought up is a credit to him and his family.
