I think what's sad about the older generation, is that some of them aren't willing to change and adapt. Holds them back and is very sad to see.

I always think you youngsters are stuck in your changing ways Meli. You need to oppose the program. ;)

By the way, what age range is included in "the older generation?" I want to know when the worshippers of the broad-minded epoch will unanimously disapprove of my reactionary luddite intransigence. One thing I cannot swallow is dynamic young people agreeing with me. That really gets on my goat - despite me not having a goat and also having no idea why something would want to get on the poor thing if I did. :)

Bulgarian fetta cheese

If Dangerfield kicked a goal like that on Brandon Ellis in last week’s game, and Brandon/Danger had a similar exchange after it, would it be getting the same positive reception?
People would have been too busy melting about his dropped mark to notice lel

These numbers are just crazy for a 1st year player , You would be hard pressed to find many players with this type of DE%

Ok....this is it, I’m ****ing seriously over this bullshit nitpicking on field and kindergarden sledging and crap that goes on, we have one player who plays like a champ and puts his body and soul on the line every week but also has the CLASS and respect to acknowledge a great of the game and peoples want to complain about it. This is why this world is messed up, we should have more Sydney stacks in the game instead the usual no class garbage that some players do on a week to week basis. Go Sydney show them your dust, magic dust that is.

Only times I can think of him missing a target are when he sprayed a couple OOTF in his first 2 games. Other than that he is deadset pinpoint.

My take on the Moment with Betts is it reminds me of when kids play without scoring, whatever the sport.
Some kids and players develop and are more attractive to recruiters cause they play solid in their role and play the percentages and are good at focusing in on their job and approach their career as exactly that a career and try to be more professional and deligent and disciplined.
But what Eddie and Stack have are skills that come from the thrill of playing, freaky goals and steps and torps on the run.
That sort’ve stuff reminds me it’s a game and games are fun, winning and losing is a measure of the team but it only happens when the games over and you can’t play anymore.
And to play is why kids love the game and playing for the thrill of the game is best.

Could not have put it better..
It was a game within a game between SS and Betts...it started when SS said to Betts..no special goals for you..
The thrill of playing to see who is better...it finished when Betts slotted thro' his special goal and his beaming grin towards SS..

I thought it was terrific.

And yes, Stack was bowing down to Betts, but at the same time Betts was tipping his hat to Stack. "Brother, you are bound for greatness and next time we meet you may get the better of me, but I still have some tricks up my sleeve".

It was respect all round and in this day and age of anger and bitterness from all sides of the spectrum this was just a beautiful moment, where brilliance should be appreciated, brilliance made even more so by the tough workout he had been given by a younger and just as fierce opponent.

I have a feeling this unplanned moment will be replayed many times and immortalised in years to come.

Beautifully put...:thumbsu:
It was as Bruce has so often put it...special!
A game within a game...a special moment to savour and reflect upon!
What i also liked about it was the unbegrudging replying smile by SS to Betts...quality young man! That is class!

Haha....well I'm not that young myself (not that old either), but realise that there is nothing I can do about change so....

I suppose as well, the old timers I was referring to are the ones who always blame the younger generation on everything that is wrong with the world and cannot move past it.....not meaning to put everyone in the same box though!

Composure composure!
How calm and composed is this kid when he's got ball in hand.

Could weave in and out of traffic at peak hour on the Monash!

Had no effect on the final result.

Life is too short to get uptight over such minor things.

The hug of Eddie was a one off that won't happen again. If you look at the scenario, the cheeky Stack was mouthing off at Eddie the whole game saying you won't kick a magic goal.Stack was perhaps slightly out of line to be bagging a champion so when Eddie kicked a magic goal ,Stack rightly showed his hero Betts some respect and I have no problem with that.
Stack has balls of steel ,and he is also a fierce competitor ,there is no way he backed off at any stage. He was trying to crunch Betts the whole match so you can't say he wasn't playing full throttle for Richmond.
Stack is a natural leader and will be in the leadership group in three to four years imo.

It's strange whe the commentators want something real from the players ala Higgo they exploit it as much as they can...
When players are not robots and show something real of themselves commentators still exploit it as much as they can ala SS...
Wouldn't say commentators in this case.Just a no morals flog named Gary lying.
