I have been having the same thoughts for a while.

Lets be honest if they took Twitter off of him then half , well 90% of his problems would minimize. He would be seen as a President struggling to get people nominated who has made some EOs , but I don't think there would be half this outrage and derision for him

Do his tweets cause outrage? Plenty of derision. Lots of laughter and/or bewilderment as well.

Trump lives in a cocoon, he doesn't think he has any problems.

I think the challenge here for Trump is that he's pushing either Watergate 2.0 or a false narrative.

It's outside the powers of the President to 'order' a tap. FISA warrants have to be approved by a judge. For a FISA warrant to be approved in October against a Presidential nominee the standard of evidence would have to be extraordinarily high. What's more, Trump can actually release the warrant anyway - the President has declassification authority. For Trump to shoot his mouth off like that is extraordinary.

Yeah, directly calling out Obama is a big call. I'm leaning more toward him shooting off @ the mouth too, whether it was sloppiness or a deliberate attempt to change the narrative - but we'll see.

There's no law that says one can't release their tax returns while being audited by the IRS. Trump saying he cannot release his returns while he is being audited is a lie.

We know Obama's team didn't direct it. It's been flatly denied by many people in different areas (including Comey who holds no love for Obama), and there has been absolutely zero evidence produced to suggest he did.

That's not to say that there wasn't a tap under a FISA warrant as part of an ongoing investigation by someone. It's been widely reported that the FBI were investigating Trump/Russian connections last year. I'll bet you as much as you're prepared to bet though that it wasn't done by Obama or his direct team.

It makes sense, but as long as the sources are unnamed "senior officials", & the FBI/DOJ official spokespeople are refusing to comment i'll take it with a very large grain of salt.

Maybe he thinks that the bold gives him an out but we all know that it happens, what did you really expect him to say?

I have no doubt that it is happening in Australia right now.

Is it right? Not sure that our opinion matters sadly.

However, keep in mind that Trump has worked to raise doubts about the legitimacy of the courts, the CIA, the FBI, Congress, the electoral system, all regulatory agencies, and, not least, the media that might inform the public about his concerted and continual efforts to undermine all authority--with the exception of his own.

What would we think if we saw the leader of another western nation (UK, Canada, NZ, etc) deploying this strategy?
