Some of the accused witches during the Salem Witch Trials elected to flee the state rather than front court. Is this evidence that they must have really been witches? Why else would they avoid "due process"? Drink that in m8... let it marinate.
Ill have a crack - possibly because those were actual witch hunts, being conducted by Puritan religious psychopaths (incidentally more akin to the republicans of today, rather than the democrats) and the people being accused were literally going to be burned alive for failing to prove something unprovable.

To invoke that comparison does “your side” absolutely no favours here, m8.

As much as it might be a cringe term, its the reality of the roles power. He's more than just the leader of the US

So you complain about America being the worlds policeman but then complain about America not being the worlds policeman - is that it ?.

Taxpaying Americans never asked to become the worlds policeman- whilst their infrastructure and cities decay they manage to find billions to build walls for other countries, fund their military etc etc

I guess that’s where ethics come into it, something the GOP has long lacked.

Michael Moore tells a funny recent story, he was in Congress the day of the impeachment, and he talks about the sound the republicans made when it went through being this guttural, tortured howl. He says he turned to his sister at the time and said “I imagine that’s the sound the dinosaurs made when they realised it was the end of the line”.
Ethics and politics are far removed from each other on all sides dems no different.

Using Moore's opinion is just using someone's opinion to describe the character of the pubs. So what?

If it were up to Moore and he was forced to be bipartisan, it's unlikely there'd be enough people to form a government let alone a watchdog opposition.

Whether they should be or shouldn't be (I don't think they should be) the reality is that they are.

I think Trump got voted in - not to be, the Swamp however loves to be, it means $$ to them.

I think they also need to be - but not to the current extent.

That’s sounds as though you think that if trump and his people testified, that the impeachment case would be strengthened?

I have no idea. But its pretty much a given in a free western country that the government cant force you to testify and incriminate yourself.

It is also a given that if the government wants to prosecute you they need to make their case. You dont have to help them.

IT does specifically answer the question. Why would Trump submit his administration to this fishing expedition? - the facts surrounding this saga are clear enough. The witnesses the Dems used were all allowed to make hearsay testimony. Trump was not allowed his own lawyer to cross - examine. This has been a farce from start to finish.

Trump used his office to ask for an investigation by the newly elected - anti-corruption president - into Ukraines involvement in the 2016 election and Biden's sons Burista corruption. He asked for an investigation not a judgement FFS.
The attempt to elevate this into an impeachable offence is laughable. It relies on the argument that Trump doesn't really care about stamping out corruption and this was just targeting his political opponent. Separating the bones between whether Trump cares about corruption or only winning the election is an exercise in stupidity and only a party who's supporters have become deranged could allow itself to make this historic mistake.

It's just awfully coincidental that a POTUS who has had the establishment trying to remove him since day dot, just happens to commit an unforgivable offense after a bunch of other attempts to remove him failed. It's "boy who cried wolf" stuff m8.

Off the top of my head we've had:

Muh electoral college electors
Muh 25th amendment
Muh Russians
Muh obstruction
And now we repeat the previous 2 but shift to the country next door.

It's frankly embarrassing that people still buy into it. It's the exact same denial of reality that British leftists had, bizarrely refusing to accept the result of a referendum and then getting humiliated at the next election. Will history repeat?

Meanwhile the Dems used Russian sources for the Steele Dossier, and half of the leadership of this "environmentalist" party have kids working for Ukrainian fossil fuel companies, but hey.

30 years is a stretch, would suggest up to 2008 is was an appropriate term.

Really? US had a hard enough time putting together the "Coalition of the willing" for the 2003 Iraq invasion and even then a lot of those tiny countries listed weren't even participants and only signed on to keep recieving aid money. Only countries to contribute combat troops of any significant numbers were UK & Australia. Poland may have sent a few. Leader of the free world, I think not.

Trump runs POTUS like he ran Trump Tower - he’s a schemer with no regard for rules or due process. He thinks he’s a master negotiator but he’s just an old fashioned BT Barnum.
It should be no surprise that he ****s up constantly as POTUS as he’s too set in his ways and probably too dumb to realise it’s a whole new level of accountability .
He should have learnt from asking Comey to give Flynn a pass but he can’t help himself.

You see the Dems as targeting him, I see an opposition party holding a loose POTUS to account and not having to try too hard to find subject matter for that.
He will get a partisan nod from the Senate this time but to be honest if he gets another term I think he’s a true dead man walking😜

That’s the great part of opinions - we are both right.

The point being the GOP truly are dinosaurs; ALL old rich white men who do not in anyway represent current America.

OK I am really lost reading this from a State Department Official.

"We warned the Iraqi government, many times, to carry out their responsibility to protect us as their invited guests," said a senior State Department official briefing reporters. "The US military is there on the invitation of the Iraqi government, and the US diplomatic presence is there under an agreement with the Iraqi government. It is their responsibility to protect us, and they have not taken appropriate steps to do so."

What year did the Iraqi government invite the USA into there country as a guest?

If he gets another term that will be decided by the electorate, going by the noise the attempt to remove him from office has only bolstered his numbers.

Will the electorate vote the pubs in again? If so would the rest of the free world view that electorate as lacking in intelligence because of it? The same could be asked of the British result, heck even our own Shorten landslide win that didn't happen.

That would be ignorant to view the people of any of those states that way. The common key between these surprising "views" of the electorates is that it is fair speculation that none of these views were in vote for but rather in vote against.

Against, Clinton, Corbyn and Shorten. Some of the electorate view the attempt to remove Trump as petulant and desperate which will only work in favour to vote against the dems again.

The point being the GOP truly are dinosaurs; ALL old rich white men who do not in anyway represent current America.

That could be viewed as opinion from a progressive standpoint.

What is the "current" america? Somehow those old rich men were voted in to represent whatever that current America is or more accurately the current America at the time voted Clinton out.

Will the dems be voted out again? Well going by some of the supposed disdain from the electorate for the dems actually going ahead with impeachment that would be fair speculation.

Over 70% of current America is either female, non white and/or under 35. So clearly not represented by the GOP. By 2045 white people will no longer be the majority in the United States. The dinosaurs will be extinct soon enough. They’ll try to cling on by whatever means possible - gerrymandering and voter suppression are two current favourites, not to mention enabling a dementia riddled corrupt narcissist to remain in power - but their time is coming.
