When talking about Jacobs being physically ready, it needs to be remembered that he put on 5? or was it 8kgs on in the pre-season. For a skill and endurance based athlete this is a huge change.

Once the weight is on, the rest of the body needs to catch up with the extra weight. I'm talking endurance (which is obvious) but more importantly skill and judgement. The muscles and nervous system have to re-tune to the new parameters.

In the game against C'wood it looked to me that he was struggling endurance wise, but I'm sure there's a lot of other adjustments going on. I'm stoked he's had this game, but for Jacob's in particular (given he's already had a taste) I'd love to see him "force the coaches to pick him" (TM BS) with another 4-5 games like this against different opponents.

23 contested possessions is very impressive. It's obvious the kid can play, if he has another good game next week then he'll be smashing the door down.

I have a really good felling about this bloke.
Come at me Port fans

We all have our scapegoats on this board before a game even starts, a thread on Anthony played ok, a thread on Jacobs played a quarter and yes was disappointing but our coach most times chooses the wrong player as a sub and that was the case with Jacobs, he is not an impact player like Stokes.

But no thread our wonderful Harper and he was pathetic, worst on ground by a country mile, can't remember his last good game.

Richmond last year? Maybe later?

he did some amazing sht that day

I think Jacobs could be a player. But he is not up to scratch at the moment.

His fitness and agility are very poor. Either that or he is lazy, and I don't think that's the case.

Why was he gifted games when the most basic physical aspect of playing AFL footy was lacking.

Let him develop fitness and power and confidence in the VFL and then bring him in when his form demands it.

Like a lot of NM supporters, I've been walking around saying this all year. And I fear now I'm starting to look a little silly. We picked these guys up for what? Please tell me. It's time the club drew a lion in the sand and played both these guys at Subi. The wide open spaces would suit these guys to the teeth and they'd both be familiar with the Perth conditions playing most of their junior footy there.
I wanna wake up Monday morning screaming, "Gysberts has been tremendous in this last quarter, charging up the ground!" followed by "Fletcher, Harvey, Jacobs!" And anyone here who denies they want to do the same, is flat out lying straight to bed.

1) Are you Roos or Suns?
2) Who is Fletcher?
3) Gysberts is not even named as a possibility to play.
4) Can you draw a Lion in the sand for me - preferably one that looks like King Mufassa.

Thanks

Arthur. I am sure you are familiar with the Henry Root Letters. I not track down a copy. It is your modus operandi. Just enough fact to put everyone off the scent. Well played. Very funny.

The underlying point is why draft ready made AFL players and not play them. Unless of course they were duds to begin with.

I think the real underlying point is:
Look at the monkeys.
See how they throw their poo.
Now, do we laugh at the monkeys, or
The people they hit with their poo.

btw this is endorsed by Adam Goodes. And in case its not clear the monkeys are the posters the Arthur Cloke has apparently sucked in.

That's what we are looking for from him. Just a small step tonight but thought his first half was fantastic. Nice goal too. He brings that going forward and he will eat his doubters.
Lacks a yard of pace but looks a different player when he's in and under.
Obviously ran out of legs big time hence the sub.

Hope its a sign of great things ahead. Well done young fella!

He showed real improvement. Hopefully that game does plenty for his confidence. Looks like he's learnt to use his body more, some good shepherds, blocks and tackles that weren't part of his game at the beginning of the season.

Agree showed some good signs.

Hate to say this but Swallows injury really gives our young mids the chance to stand up and be counted.

Hopefully they grab their chances by the throat fueling belief and when Spitta does come back look out!
