Maybe i'm biased. but I can't understand how Patrick Lipinski can probably be worth in the pick 25-30 range, yet SPS is worth less than that? (at least according to the Eagles, it would seem). Surely Sam is a better player, and has more experience.

Is it fundamentally down to the fact, SPS wasn't offered a contract, Lipinski turned one down?

Was a bit of trade chat on the radio earlier this morning, and I think it may have been Riley Beveridge who was on who suggested that a fair trade for SPS would be somewhere around the second rounders that WC have (29 and 35), but that WC maybe just see him as a convenient target rather than one they actually want to shell out for.

More excuses for Austin.

If there's anyone at the club that ought to have their papers stamped it's this imposter.
He's a bit of a lightweight in negotiations. Some folk prefer us to be easy to deal with, it just means we end up with less to spend on other trades and at the draft.

If as reported Bulldogs get around pick 30 for Lipinkski and Geelong get around pick 40 for a Krueger then there are two players (Krueger and Lipinski) with less games and Brownlow Medal votes combined than SPS getting traded and their clubs getting far better deals than what’s currently being reported for SPS.

We should hold firm for pick 29 from WCE for SPS.

Big difference being drafted into a poor team as a high draftee than getting brought in as a mid-range pick in a team that consistently makes finals and is stacked to the gills with quality midfielders. Value doesn't equate to draft selection or number of Brownlow votes talled (over 100 game career).

I'd argue Lipinski would be worth a similar pick, and tbh I'd probably take him over SPS at this point in time. On a game-by-game basis his consistency and overall impact are greater than SPS'.

Oh man. The way we've handled SPS is a really poor.

If we cop a rubbish pick for SPS, I will not be happy.

Get some "curly" hair on ya balls Austin!

And yet in the respective years that you have shown Cerra finished third in the freo best and fairest despite only playing 17 games.

Sps finished 10th in ours despite playing every game.
I don't read too much into the B&F results. Each club has different points systems and value different things.

I get this impression too. Not a guy you'd give up a heap for, but if he's heading back home, uncontracted and is in the right age range you're happy to give up a late pick. Low risk/moderate reward.

I’d threaten to send Samo to PSD, Freo may not take him but then they just may and WC don’t get him at all

Serious question: what does that do for us?

I'd suggest if West Coast will not offer better than 52 then they're not going too fazed if he goes elsewhere.

Legitimate tactic, if clubs are as frightened by the draft this year as last year. Worse case we miss out on Pick 49, but end up with something like Pick 60 as compensation pick for delisting SPS (eg end of the draft).

Reckon we end up copping a 2nd but give up a later pick and do some other pick workarounds to grab Young.

A bit pre-emptive regarding Austin's performance this year.
So far he's got George Hewett for free and a firm commitment from the best available midfielder in the competition.
Pretty good starting point, let's see what happens next.

It sounds like it will be a very simple swap of SPS for 52. Then that will be on traded for Lewis Young, although we are trying to get him for 64.
Very disappointing, but this is not Austin's fault.
Both the club and SPS have let themselves down over the last 2-3 years. His value is at an all time low and he was the first to have his papers stamped by the incoming bosses. He was is not viewed in a positive light with those pushing the new culture shift. I guess this says a bit.
Hopefully for him he gets his attitude right. Will be hard to watch him blossom at another club, but it would be a huge shame to see his talent completely go to waste.
Bang.

What does 52 do for us? It may get Lewis Young but it definitely gets you a reputation a recruitment team doesn’t want.

WC want him, list spaces are precious commodities, if the want factor wasn’t there they wouldn’t be entertaining him in any scenario. They just want him on the dirt cheap

Cant balme Austin for SPS demanding a trade - cant blame Voss either who apparently tried to get SPS to change his mind...
you can blame Teague and his mob though..we had a smashingly good pick 6 in hsi first year onlky to turn into a scared rabbitt by teh time Teague finished with him.

What does 'welfare issue' mean...?
Depression, personal problems that require a change of environment, etc etc.
