Watching Craig Lowndes smash the competition
AFL Club
Hawthorn
Other Teams
Melbourne Stars, Craig Lowndes,
Mitchell
Continues to deliver, week in week out. Is not slowing down with age
Rioli
His best is electrifying does stuff almost unhuman is simply delicious
Gunston
Been a great tall target up forward really stepped it up a notch in the last few years
Burgoyne
Is consistant and makes an impact right when needed like against wc last time
Gibson
An awesom defender and great spoiling still manages to find a fair bit of the ball
Lewis
Continued his great form from last year if not for his brainfade in rnd5 would be in brownlow contention imo

All have had stellar seasons and all deserve selection

Gibbo had a better year last year I think. Weird he didn't get a gig last year. Or rigged...

Good to see Gunners' numbers are still up, despite his finger injury. He has the most marks of any forward this year (167; 2nd N Reiwoldt at 165, then T Walker at 155). Not a great individual year for him on the scoreboard perhaps, but he's clearly being recognised for his teamwork & impact around the ground.

When did AA contention start to include TEAM players?

I think only Mitchell will make it. It'll be a joke trust me
Tend to agree. Whilst the others have been good there's too much competition.

Forward line will be JJK, Wingard, Betts, Higgins, Riewoldt and Swan.
Rance, Hurley and McGovern will get picked in the backline before Gibbo.
Lewis has been good, but plenty of others have been better - Martin, Fyfe, Hanners, Danger, Sammy, Gaff, Priddis probably all get picked before him.
Hodge has just missed too many games.

Just shows how good we are in terms of depth and not relying on a few good players like some other teams.

Another Buddy scandal? Quick release the All Australian team list!!

Feels like the first year in forever the team hasn't been stuffed to the gills with Geelong players. Makes a nice change I must say.

Is it me or has Gunston stagnated this season? Hasn't seemed his deadeye self in front of goal, nor as clean in possession.

His role has changed so that he's covering a lot more ground now, and not spending quite as much time in the forward line. Someone else mentioned this in a different thread earlier in the year, but this would add to the fatigue in his legs, thus affecting accuracy in front of goal.

Having said that, I think his year has been outstanding. Even if he's down a little on accuracy, he's also spending time as a link-up wingman, HFF & HBF in games too, and is contributing to goals as well as kicking them.

Surprised (but then again not surprised) that Isaac Smith didn't make it. He and Gaff are the best "pure wingman" by a mile, so by that logic they should both have starting positions on the wings.

But we all know the selectors will use the positions to put in other players they couldn't fit elsewhere. It's a farce that the two best in that position will loose spots to accomodate others. Gaff has been named in the squad at least but if he makes it, it will likely be on the bench.

It's not just your mob who rates Smith, blokes a star.

So your hoping he doesnt play this week?

Was looking at Gunners stats, and his season has just has been good. Has already had more shots than goal than last year, but just been more inaccurate. Kicked 58.27 in 2014 (inc. finals) and has 52.33 at this stage. Has kicked 6 more behinds. Would love to see him get that 3rd forward spot as he works so hard but I think its a stretch

Yes and no.
Yes because on paper at least it will increase our chances of winning, but then again no, because I don't like to see blokes miss games (especially finals) through injury and because I'd rather beat you at your best.

If his not 100% though I really hope you don't play him because we saw what happend to McGovern when we rushed him back. Nobody would want to see Smith miss the finals if he were to aggravate the injury.
