Any tips how to explain this to a 4 year old?

I’m 39 and struggling with it

Bring on when we play them, Archer will bury the SA toss bag
Could always give her a bit of a history lesson ... just roll through all of the #6 that you know about .... I'm about 79 so I'd start with Arnie, tell her how ace he was. Ian Fairley and how he finished up after kicking a goal in the GF. The very smooth Shannon Grant ....then just mention that JHF has been a bit naughty and not following the rules, so we've sent him home as he's been being rude to the other players. And, he's not very good at sharing and he doesn't even use manners! How rude.

Very disappointing.

I compare it to someone like Will Phillips, who started his preseason weeks ago in a bid to repay the club for taking him early in the draft.

Pick 8 and future first doesn’t cut it for mine. We need a pick this year in the top 5 and a future first, otherwise we hold him and deal with the crows next year.

Given we (Port) couldn’t land Dunkley Graham or Pickett there is a lot of money floating around that needs to be spent somewhere.
I wouldn’t worry about the money. I would worry about the giant size trade dildo that is going to be thrown at you.

I can see the club digging it’s heels in because him and his manager have been so unprofessional.

I can’t see this being about fair negotiation considering the timing and the player and managers behaviour.

I don’t think the threat of not getting a return next year will be of much concern. I think he list any goodwill by waiting until the day before trade commences.

Geez you guys can’t take a trick!
What are you guys looking to get back for JHF?

I would like to think you take Port to the cleaners. He’s still contracted and if they want him they will have to pay.

#8, #27, F1st + Sinn
Getting that would be a dream get, getting port to agree to that will just show port who’s boss and put even more pressure on the snake. That trade could even set port back years which is even better

I think the boos will come from other club supporters too. They all know the draft order and at any time in the future, they'd expect their first rounders to at least honour the contract they signed. This could be them on any given year.
If other teams get wind of him being affected by booing, it’ll be all over. Kid won’t have a chance.

Disappointing as this is, we need to make the very most of this. For Port to get him in this trade period, they have to deliver at least 2 first round picks. No if, no buts and if they don't/can't then he stays for another year. Or stands out of the game for a year.

Yes we will get less in 12 months. But in the next 12 months, a "lot of water will flow under the bridge".

For a start the situation with Clarkson will be resolved one way or another.

And if Clarkson is forced out of the game (unlikely now in my opinion), then we will have a new coach and who knows what he/she may achieve?

I say unlikely because I noted that Todd Viney was in attendance today at our girls great win at Punt Road. Which rightly or wrongly I saw as a positive sign for our club and Clarkson.

Secondly, while I do not anticipate huge steps up the ladder, I think we will perform much better next year and our acceptability as a club to play at, might just rise a few rungs. Who knows, if he is forced to stay, he might well see things differently and decide to stay. Long shot though.

Though our position will be weakened in 12 months, we should still end up with something decent if he goes home then.

Irrespective of all of that, the AFL has to do something about the length of contracts for draftees, particularly first round picks. They should become a minimum of 3 years and in the event that players want to leave early, the club they want to go to has to cough up a pick at least equal or better than the one the player went at in his original draft. In other words, Port would have to give us Pick 1 now, which they can't, because we already have it. Haha, not sure what the solution is there but the idea works for me at least.

Didn’t Blake Acres just do them same thing? I agree he’s been a nuisance for your club but history shows players that are a nuisance and want to leave almost always find a way. Port do not have a history of being pricks with trades either, in fact too generous is often the case.

All seem to be happy though only rumour is that Bergman is a bit home sick. Other than that nothing. In the end other than a huge pay increase can’t see why any would accept to be traded.

If they don't, that's cool, the deal doesn't get done.

No matter how much Fabian / Port have been white-anting us.
