So.

Some of the port players are familiar with JHF and are not fans, to put it nicely.

Perfect.

In an ideal scenario they pay through the nose ruining this year’s and next’s draft.

Then they have disharmony on and off field.

And we death ride the f*** outta them.

Just stonewall them until they offer something that's beneficial to us.

Let them keep leaking names of players they want to shop in the media and have them deal with unhappy players all throughout next season.

I don't have much faith in Brady, but feel a lot more comfortable with Viney there that we will hold firm on this one.

Came over for a look to get a gauge on what was considered acceptable compensation amongst posters here. Instead all I’ve seen is some pretty harsh character assassinations of a 19 year old kid.

What exactly has he done wrong? So he thinks Melbourne is a shithole. He’s not alone there. And he thinks NMFC is also a shithole. Hate to tell you, but in its current state, he’s also not alone there. Nothing unreasonable in those 2 thoughts.

At the end of the day, these kids get 1 crack at playing AFL football. Who can begrudge them wanting to do it in the state/club of their choosing? You all get to pick where you live and work don’t you? What’s the difference?

Good luck to the kid I say. And the salty posters here need to get over it. Shouldn’t have drafted such a flight risk in the first place, especially when there was ridiculous trade picks on offer.

Just take the best picks on offer and move on.

There is nothing Koch (who is President, not CEO) said that proves JHF was target #1 for this off-season. You choose what you want to believe, whatever makes you feel better about the situation.

You sure about that? I thought it was Boyd who was targeted by the Dogs on a massive deal and then Griffen got involved in the trade?
I think putting homesickness eventually in the same category as "playing for flags" or "playing in front of big crowds" is an overreach - but happy to agree to disagree there.
Minor fact check here. And we're all shocked to find out our South Australian friend is wrong. Again.

Ryan Griffen asked for a trade to GWS on October 9, 2014, ostensibly because he'd fallen out with Brendan McCartney.

The Bulldogs then chased Tom Boyd in retaliation (Peter Gordon said they wanted unprecedented compensation for Griffen) and he requested a trade on October 13.

Come on, mate, this game isn't fair if you're going to find, like, evidence that he's bullshitting. He wasn't expecting people to be able to prove it.

Just like he wasn't expecting his contradictory statements to be highlighted.

Nice work big e.

Interesting that the two number 1 picks that have come out in support of
Tiny-Horne are Boyd and watts, Boyd got lucky with the bulldogs but was gone from the game in a flash (fan of Boyd btw) and watts, well what can I say.
Don’t know if they are the ones I would aspire to emulate.

The other interesting one is the similarities between THF and Buckley’s behaviour. Buckley was highly talented, touted as the next big thing, was seen as a highly motivated and a perfectionist, clashed with teammates, overly demanding, was also disliked and given the nickname Figjam by his own team, he caused senior loved players to leaving when he was announced as captain, this continued throughout his coaching career.
Ultimately he never managed to achieve the ultimate success as player or coach.
Hopefully for THF his career doesn’t track the same way because it certainly has begun similarly.

Just a bit of perspective:

Sunday - Pick 8 & F1
Monday - Pick 8, F1 & F3
Tuesday - Pick 8, F1 & Bonner
Wednesday - Pick 2

A week to go and things are progressing. That proposed trade falls apart because North aren’t going to just accept Pick 2, whilst West Coast aren’t going to just accept a F1.

As I’ve said throughout, Port will need to bleed to make this happen.
