I am friends with someone who has direct knowledge of the negotiations between Port and North regarding JHF. Was told that the deal was essentially done Sunday night prior to the leak but that North would push for some sort of steak knives in the coming days.

And yet Jackson is not negotiating with the Eagles and the Eagles are not negotiating with Melbourne.

Sometimes you gotta look a bit beyond the official wording and look at the actions of what is actually happening.

If he goes to West Coast I'll tip my hat to you.
Maybe I have, but how is it relevant given Jackson only negotiated with Freo, only agreed to terms with Freo, and West Coast told Melbourne they have no interest in Jackson?

On paper JHF only nominated SA according to the North press release - but we all know he wants a move only to Port just as Jackson does to Freo.
I don't expect Jackson to go anywhere but Freo but you are making up extra layers in your posts that aren't true.

Wont be steak knive’s it will be prime cut rib-eye..

Its very obvious that Port have been slimy campaigners and have been working on this for a while. I don't know why port fans would try to deny it.
It’s fine we now just need to return the favour in a much more ruthless way

I want to be in the ear of every decent port player especially Vic player every year from now on

Blow up there cap, drive up their wage and see what comes our way

The scummy power couldn’t even wait til the second year of his contract to get in his ear did it once drafted while in his first year

Oh Jackson Horne Fabian Francis he be dumb. Left school to milk cows, here's his fav cow although apparently 'she' didn't produce much milk.

But it wasn't through JHFF lack of effort.

Hope we tell Poort to shove Bonner up JHFF arse.

Zurhaar doesn't look pleased that Jason tried to run the Kochie Port Recruitment Office manoeuvre on him.

You have friends? At least try and keep the lies believable mate :thumbsu:

I don't expect Jackson to go anywhere but Freo but you are making up extra layers in your posts that aren't true.

Considering Jackson has only agreed to terms with Freo, it is literally impossible to trade him to West Coast at this point in time.

Even on the remote hypothetical they agreed to terms between West Coast and Jackson, hiw do you suppose they could even have a chance to get him without giving up pick 2? They're not going to split the pick because it is a weak draft, so they don't have the capital to get Jackson. But the fans think it's great that they're "trying," keeps them appeased through the trade period and then they have their shiny pick 3 (after Ashcroft F/S) to roll out late next month. Everybody wins.

You make some salient points.

If Luke Jackson had broken his initial draftee contract, shat all over his club obligations and teammates, softcocked behind his management who he allowed to blindside the club 12 hours before trade week then run a not so subtle self preservation attack via media.

Hilarious article

So clearly JHF's camp running PR to soften his image, "he's young and raw, he wants to win at all costs, NM didn't support him". Instead he comes across as simple, unable to fill out forms, forgetful and can't remember to do physio, and can't get along with the well heeled elites from the right side of the tracks because he's a rough and tumble dolt

Is it really so much to expect an 18yo coming into a professional environment to understand there are expectations of him as a professional footballer. It's not local footy. You cant sweep the other s**t under the rug, just let him waltz in and play footy without the extras. After reading that article I'm more convinced having him at the club long term is a mistake - imagine this year's crop of draftees coming in eager and ready to impress by doing all the extras, and they see Mr Milk Crates coming off the training track, avoiding the physios and jumping straight into his BT50 to go and shoot birds at the airport or whatever it is people from Adelaide's southern suburbs do for fun. That's so damaging to culture

Can JHF's just shut their mouths and let us finger f*** Port, he can go back to Swamp Manor on Monday and we can draft blokes who actually want to be here and can count to 21 without having to take their pants off

The funny part is that they think we should take his feelings into account at this point. 😂😂😂

Reading that SA article makes me appreciate Patch more than anything else.

Port think good list management is offering 4 x $800k to a 19yo who thinks he is football Jesus, isn't prepared to do the work and doesn't get along with his teammates - that isn't going to blow up in their face.

Port can send 2 firsts to us, Bonner and a pick to the Saints and the Saints send us Hunter Clark.

2 firsts and Clark for a kid that isn't going to reach his potential with us is a decent haul. It's not on us to make this deal happen but we should be clear it setting out the terms on which we will accept given it unlikely a straight deal with Port is going to happen.

So you claim back on the Pseudo Magpie forum:

Port and North were negotiating a few days prior to the trade request becoming public in the media. Deal was very close to being finalised on Sunday night before the media leaked it. The main parameters of the deal have been agreed, now it is just a matter of optics for North to appease their angry mob of fans.

No way JHF would have even gone to the Boar War.

i thought it might effect the logue trade but now thats gone through they can tale all the time in the world, its their loss to groom a player then not follow through with the deal.
Very smart getting that Logue deal out of the way and done. We can now stick our boots on the table and see what else is out there with little pressure. Anything else is a bonus. The sheer amount of press and PR coming out of Port and JHF's camp shows how much they want this to happen.

The thing that really sh*ts me. Horne Francis would’ve had plenty of discussions with us in the lead up to being drafted. At anytime he could’ve just been honest and told us his preference would be to remain in SA.

We would’ve then been able work through deals for that number 1 pick and when the Crows offer came we could’ve accepted that.

Now we are left with egg on our face and scrambling for a half cooked solution.
Says a lot about the integrity of the person. Who does that? Just don't come here in the first place if you don't want to.

Great to have you on board Horney. :stern look
For me, there is no doubt that this kid did not want to stay at north from the outset. Lets be honest here... either he is a spoiled brat, or he was doing what he had to do to get where he wanted to go... and it was not to north. So, what would a good manager tell this boy? "Look son, just be patient and spend a year at north but dont over play yourself, and hopefully by years end they might want to let you go more easily" Laugh, but its been done many times in the past. Buckley did it at Brisbane all those years ago. For me... there is no way, a kid with all this obvious talent, could play as bad as he did at north. He has ulterior motives for sure. Having said all this, I wish him all the best, but karma, good and bad, has a way of manifesting in all our lives.

If Gaff was known as a rat around this place for what he did to us a few years ago then what is this bloke known as? What's worse than a rat??

So you claim back on the Pseudo Magpie forum:

What would I have to gain by posting such information if I knew it to be incorrect? I worked in NFL media for 4 years, i know how sourcing works. I wouldn't say anything on here in terms of producing a factual statement unless I seriously trusted the person feeding me the info.

Happy to be proven wrong, I guess we will find out in the next week.

You are missing the point, it was purely a comment that you made up "and West Coast told Melbourne they have no interest in Jackson".

If West Coast have not agreed to terms with the player, and they've told Melbourne that pick 2 is off the table, how many more clear signs do you need to realise that they are are not interested in the player? They might not have publicly come out and said they have no interest in the player, but it would be egregious for any list manager to publicly take an option off the table. Their actions to date are saying they have no interest in the player, they couldn't make it any clearer.

The trade period is all about a team whose player is leaving demanding the world and then some, the player's desired club of choice driving a hard bargain, and then secondary teams to any negotiation living in a world of "maybe we will get involved" to keep options open and to drive prices up for their competitors.

I think the point is Jackson was willing to go to either Perth club, but ultimately Freo was the best fit, in terms of their needs and what they could offer. Which is probably why we should hold off for 12 months and see if Adelaide can offer more next year.
