Happy to put the dick on the line

will be an all Australian forward, hopefully here
People are caught up in the fantasy of hoping he will be a Superstar. Anybody on here that thinks he has shown the most remote traits of a Potential Superstar are doing what I was doing at 15 under the doona at night. This Board is near shot to shit now with people that actually have a clue about what they are watching. You are an exception to the rule though Your Royal Highness.

Btw no need for you to put anything on the line. Keep it in your pants.

Most 21 year old key forwards aren't kicking 1.5 goals a game in a top 8 side. If McDonald was the same age as McLean or Amartey, then sure - but he's not. He's still got tons of physical development ahead of him, which puts him on a "potential superstar" trajectory.

Is it a guarantee? Course not. His ceiling is unclear, but "superstar" is well and truly possible. More likely he'll level out as a well above average key forward, because not everybody can be a superstar, but it's certainly on the cards.

Don’t disagree with anything you have said but my eyes haven’t seen anything to suggest superstar. Very good AFL forward ? Yeah for sure. Needs to go to another level next year.

What would "potential superstar" look like for you then? Cos I feel like your standards for that for a 3rd year KPF are maybe a little unrealistic.

Word gets bandied around far to easy.
Sick of hearing the basis of the argument around what he has done in his 3 yrs. Franklin was a Superstar.
In his 3rd year he kicked 68 goals and in his 4th yr where McDonald will be next year he kicked 113 and won his first Coleman as a 22 yrs old. Before the retort to this comes up yes I know that can’t be a true indication because the game is a very different one now. What is a true indication though is Franklin was consistently influencing games at 21 & 22 yrs of age and had all the hallmarks of a Superstar because of it. Let McDonald start influencing games on a regular basis and then perhaps he be called a potential superstar. Would I hope he could be ? Of course but people have got far to carried away with the kid so far. He has been good at times and ordinary at others. To me and I will repeat this at this stage he looks like he could be a very good AFL forward.

Comparing any forward to Buddy is unrealistic though. Buddy was much more than a mere superstar.

Of course he was. Legend once in a lifetime player but you do get what I was saying about a potential superstar influencing games ?
Yeah. I definitely see where you're coming from. You'd expect a future superstar to show a few flashes of brilliance. I haven't quite seen that sort of impact from Logan so far. But he has been under Buddy's shadow so far in his career so 2024 will tell us a lot more about what his future trajectory may look like.

He's been developing well and will continue to get bigger. If he doesn't become a superstar I'm sure he'll be a very solid player. I get the sense he will be a fairly consistent contributor.

Imagine getting in a tangle about semantics because people are getting a bit hyperbolic about a KPF who's tracking really well.

Do some of you even enjoy football anymore or is it more of an addiction and outlet for your sadness?

Only topped by the people complaining about them. ;)

Why don't you just let the people who are having the discussion have it and keep your snout out of troth then.

Get a life Peanut.

Do you consider Tom Hawkins a superstar?

It took him until he was 24 to start impacting games regularly.

Each player is different, he is improving year on year and why can’t he be a superstar? Why put a ceiling on it?

He is tracking well, will bulk up over next 2yrs and we will see where he is at once he starts to clunk marks which comes with improved strength. As an example that mark in the 4th quarter that got spoilt by Walsh, next year he will take that.

There are signs in the way Logan plays the game which provides optimism for his future, whether he reaches superstar status or not who knows, but he will be our future hopefully for the next decade at least.

Buddy is a once in a generation player. Obviously McDonald is not on that trajectory. If that's your definition of superstar well then we're just talking about different things.
