That’s where the coach had shocker.
needed to swing balta back to defence, but sat on his arse and did nothing.
Agree mate

Soon as grimes went off with the hamstring i said we need to get Balta into defence and have soldo and Lynch foward surrounded by the short people
But that still wouldnt have stopped the midfield slaughter we were getting, Gresham , Steele , Crouch and co were just walking the ball out unopposed

Why is that a 34-year-old hahhh We got rid of some younger and screaming others to go soon as so what was the point of picking up an old man as has been proven in 3 games has not offered any more than say a Miller? Or even maybe had gotten someone else at the 25 26 age bracket. Anyway, it doesn't really matter as we will be in for a very long run of disappointments.

But he clearly was a lot better than Miller when they both played in round 2. Now we need both of them anyway. Tarrant has been fine and cost us nothing, we arent in a position to be trading picks to get someone decent of a younger age.

I'm looking forward as we are going nowhere in a hurry and things will get worse after this season with more of our older classy players leaving. Would it have been not a better idea to pump games into Miller or perhaps like I said get a much younger solid defender from somewhere else? I'm all for getting a Tarrant type if there was a chance of sneaking another cup but last season proved we were in decline so why did they bother. For me I said it at the time a big mistake.

But wouldnt you rather get someone like Sonsie + Tarrant than trade the Sonsie pick for a decent younger defender. Cos thats what it would cost just to get a fringe level younger defender from another club. Miller will get games anyway, Tarrant wont play 22 and Grimes maybe cooked. Our defence will have 3 players with under 10 games this week.

Ty Zantuck looked the type of guy that might want to give advice.
Remember when Zantuck was a combative cannonball always getting himself KO'd for his reckless endeavour at the ball? I don't.
Only advice Zantuck could offer is how to jump in front of ambulances and slip on grapes at Woolies.

No, you still get sonsie and stop f moving players around Balta I would say is handier in the backline so no need for Tarrant and Miller could play the Ash roll. As for our players with under 10 games precisely my point we are going nowhere and need to start somewhere. People forget when Ash Rance Grimes started took them ages to come good and getting beat day in day out didn't hurt them. We are in a different situation this time around as we have enough good players still left to help with development.

Being given an absolute bath by naughton
More on the rest of the defensive group giving him space to lead into

Can’t defend against that one on one

LOL...if only we had that 195cm bloke who could out-sprint Naughton leading into space as our KPD instead of rock-solid Robbie.

Across a lot of threads there's been heaps of posters slagging off Tarrant. Dunno why when he's absolutely smashing it for us and has hardly put a foot wrong. He slaughtered McKay round 1 when our midfield embarrassed themselves and did him no favours. The following week McKay kicked 5. Killed it against GWS where he was so dependable, the following week all their tall forwards went berserk. Held King for 3 quarters and only had 2 kicked on him and the other couple was whilst Gibcus was on King. He kept Naughton to 2 goals and 1 was a tin arse effort from a ruck hitout, Naughton just kicked a bag of 5. He's been getting the best forward and flogging them. A lot have been sooking that he's taking Miller's spot and shouldn't be getting a game. The fact is Miller's played on the 3rd tall who's been a spud not capable of kicking a bag. People wanna be careful what they wish for cos without Tarrant a lot of the gun big boys would easily take Miller to the cleaners by kicking massive bags. It sucks to admit but Tarrant is a massive upgrade on Astbury. Who knows he could still be going by 2024 by which time our Benny Gale has reduced father son to 50 games giving us dibs on Leon Cameron's, Nathan Browns and Tarrants sons. Tarrant is playing for peanuts and is a huge stop gap to fill the void losing Astbury and Rance has left our backline with.

Tarrant has been one of the best defenders in the league for ages. My only dig was bringing in someone his age, not his ability. Take the game against the saints the game was lost because of the coach's nfi approach of putting Balta back when grimes limped off. Tarrant was great till then and defense was winning us the game. I'm changing my tune a bit as with a fit grimes and him back there anything is possible this season.

Astbury was a very underrated defender - how many times did big forwards kick a massive amount of Goals - he was part of Richmonds team defense taking on the bigger bodied forwards - Richmond has always been susceptible to the bigger more athletics forwards - which is a trade off for Balta being in the forward line.

Love Tarrant and his fist if fury
Miller could learn a lot from him, especially how strong he attacks the contest .
Miller needs to be stronger , looks a little timid , hope that’s just nerves and will change over time
