Top 2 BnF coming up.
Clarko seems to be playing him off HB since his return to coaching. I like Bails on the wing, but he still provides plenty of run and link up off HB.
Deserves a good spell
Phenomenal year this year and will improve upon his 2022 placement in the SB medal.

I am not sure he ever played HB. It’s just his defensive running is so phenomenal, he is often running back to be a sweeper and generate run from the back half.

In terms of what he does each game, this guy is effing hero with how much he saved our asses from being caned each week.

He had a great year - particularly from around Rd6-7 onwards. I actually think he will be less noticeable the better we get, but I also think that the work he does will continue to be critical. He will make other players better.

This does make me wonder how many other shitmen aren’t shitmen but just need time and development.
I'm not sure there are any shitmen playing AFL actually i am certain there are none some don't realize just how hard it is to even play 1 AFL game. For every AFL player that has made it there are 100s that haven't even managed to get on a list never lone play just one game.

Truth is not many comeback.
One of the main reason players are dubbed “ shitmen” is due to the “ turd polishing” that is prevalent around these parts.

There is an extensive algorithm that is used to determine whether one is a shitmen. It gets bandied around these days with nary a thought given to the exact science that is required.

Players history
What did he cost
Where did he come from
How much were we ripped off
How many years did he stink it up elsewhere.
Was he a high draft pick
How much are we paying him
How many years have we signed him for
Are we still bottom four
And finally
Are we still, still bottom four

Xerri - isn’t a shitmen
CCJ - shitmen
Polak - shittiest shitmen
And so on, so currently in danger are

Phillips
Powell
Stephenson

Scott cost not much via the drafts, was the last 7 or so games of 22 that imo he added some real value.
He has continued on from there , is super fit and covers good ground at a decent clip.

Guys that haven’t got that quick step to get moving are on the nose at AFL level. Have been for a long time we just missed the memo.

So a lot of this is what did we pay, what do we pay, and have they help the team move forward.
Phillips
Powell
Stephenson
What is the factor around injury here?

With neither Powell nor Philips shooting the lights out but both having had injury interruptions.

There’s also an argument to be had about 2020 being the worst draft year ever given the lack of footy making educated selections being speculative. But here’s not the place for that.

I personally think we’re likely to see improved output from both next year. However it’s still unlikely to be hitting the level you’ve just hit with Bailey.

Bailey has been in the system since the 19 season. Without real injury interruption. Those two should be about a year behind him development wise and then factoring set backs you’d be looking at 24 months.

So we’re then looking at end of 25 to understand whether Powell and Phillips are shitmen or not.

As for Stephenson he’ll will always look flakey in a poor side. If we’re waiting on him to lift us out of the bottom 4 we’ll be waiting forever.

Did Gavin Brown develop hi- never mind we’ve come too far!!

Good on him. Proved heaps of us wrong and settled in a really strong position.

Same placing as last year. But the differences are that his 2022 would have put him around seventh this year and that he visibly did a lot right this year as opposed to just working hard and not doing too much wrong. Reflection of both the incremental improvements in the team and his own development. Good stuff
