Seeing JB explicitly said we were not having a rebuild but rather a reset, I presume the posters on here talking about complete rebuilds and trading players like Goldstein are just joking, otherwise they are heading for disappointment. Then again it can be fun building castles in the sky
Let's face it, we won't know exactly what 'aggressive reset' means until we see the results. It could very well be a euphemism for 'rebuild' - a term clubs don't usually use for fear of alienating a portion of the supporter base.

That said, I don't think it'll be a rebuild given previous comments regarding 'sustained success' and the fact that we have a reasonable 'middle' age group. We're basically replacing the 'old' age group with a 'young' age group with a reasonable middle core.

Apparently West Coast are in the mix, no surprise given he's from there, but I'm not sure I see him uprooting his family from Victoria to move to WA.
Then again, it might be a compromise with him spending all these years in Melb to be close to his wifes family.

I'm not fussed either way. If he stays, cool. If he goes, then as long as we get at least a second rounder for him I'm OK.
I know his Dad is (was) in WA and he lived here when he was recruited, but isn't his mob from the same area as Lindsay's mob? (Mothers are cousins.) He's 32, left at 18 and I'm not sure he has the same connection to country and family here in WA as some other Indigenous footballers. My sense is he is, for the most part, well settled in Melbourne.

Happy to be corrected if that's not the case.

Would be remarkable if he stayed it has to be about money as the pies are not going to challenge. Love wellsy and look at 2017 and think my god we are we going to find that outside run from but the swans showed that they could bring in seven new players that filled the holes.

I agree almost certain I will be disappointed :/

Having said that that isnt going to stop me from posting what I believe is the right thing for the club.

Why are we even putting any credence in what JB said anyway?

For all we know, he is speaking out of his arse and made up 'aggressive reset' on the fly.

Sounds like he had his pants on backwards :drunk:

The meaning of "aggressive reset" will remain unclear until the end of the 2017 season. However 2017 turns out will be an aggressive reset, successfully achieved.

I hope we are, we have a lot of changes being made so if he can stay fit he would have an important role for two years at least, plus I like him as a player.

That sums up Wells' career.

Pretty much, beautiful to watch though in full flight, very good to seem him play often enough this season.

Definitely, when he is good to go he is magical to watch.

And now he could become a disgusting sight if he signs with the Pies.

He's exactly the player you need. He's sublime when fit and flying.

I hope you get him but with his family set up in Melb the Wobbles might be in the box seat.

I think it would benefit Jetta as well, can interchange them on the outside run or off of half back, and obviously to rest up forward for a few cheapies.

yep Jetta needs a mentor, as far as ability goes Wellsy makes him look like a pre schooler..

So If he gets 3 @ $550-$600k, that would end up being pick 19 compo? Or could we then trade him to west coke for 12?

If they want him and will give up 12, we'd be crazy to turn that down.
