Why do you think that?Horne Francis leaving far worse than this bloke leaving.
No , not really .Horne Francis leaving far worse than this bloke leaving.
You are so not Finn O'Sullivan! This is how I interpret what is going on with LDU contract talks.
His manager told LDU at the start of the year that some clubs are interested in signing him as a free agent and that North want to start negotiating now so let's put off negotiations for this year and let this ferment.
Agent advises North that they won't be negotiating until after the season at the earliest as LDU would like to concentrate on his football. They would also have said that LDU loves the club and he sees his future here and that when the time right the two parties will get together and commence the process.
Move forward ro the end of this season. LDU's management have received official offers from probably 3 clubs, Saints, Bombers and Hawks. I'd say offers from $1.3M to $1.5M per year and long term and that may get higher if they maintain the competative tension.
I believe their strategy will be to work out the market rate for LDU and then begin negotiations with North in a strong position. LDU would be hoping that North get with $200K and if we stiff him then he needs to weigh up some considerations.
No inside info at all, just how I'm reading it. Might be right off the mark and FOS.
I really don't think LDU will want to wait until the end of the season. We all know how much he hates the media attention on him so i reckon he'll have signed prior to the end of the season. This is how I interpret what is going on with LDU contract talks.

Clearly the best potential FA acquisition.Going to be interesting to see how he handles the media attention given this is the path he and his management have gone down. Hopefully there'll be an expectation from the club that he takes on more media responsibility too. He'll have to cop the inevitable questions.

Will sign before the sign or after will massacre the blues on Good FridayIf he doesn’t sign inside the first half of the year, he’s gone.
I'm officially concerned about LDU.
You my friend are a panic merchant
Literally could not disagree with this any more. This sort of shit is how you lose blokes like Wardlaw, Duursma and the like. The can has been kicked far enough. No more ****ing picks, no more starry eyes over trades/picks, let's make a team with what we have, so that the blokes we have don't leave and we don't get stuck in the fatal cycle of picking up high draft picks and then disillusioning them, never being able to build up a proper teamI'm fine with it, let's wait.
We have quality midfielders coming through. If he wants out we might be better of with a decent trade and/or pick.
‘Wants to see improvement’: Why this star free agent has put contract talks on hold

North Melbourne star Luke Davies-Uniacke wants to see on-field improvement under coach Alastair Clarkson, and will wait until the new year before discussing a contract extension with the club.
Davies-Uniacke, 25, shapes as one of the hottest prospective restricted free agents next year, and has indicated he wants to remain at Arden Street.
While the Kangaroos are keen to broker a new deal, Davies-Uniacke’s manager, Robbie D’Orazio of Connors Sports Management, said discussions were temporarily on hold.
I want him to stay but I also want him to stop hacking the ball inside 50 like Ziebell used to do. If he wont stop hacking it then I am not going to lose any sleep if he goes. Is that harsh?
If he stops hacking it I think we will automatically jump to a mid-table side with everything else being the same. So I think he is ultimately got the destiny of the club improving onfield in his own hands.
Needs to take the shot himself when in range too. Been more than a few moments where he tried to pass it to someone in a better position and then the Benny Hill music kicked in.I want him to stay but I also want him to stop hacking the ball inside 50 like Ziebell used to do. I'd prefer he backs himself in, runs inside 50, and kicks goals. He's a pretty good kick for goal on the run.I want him to stay but I also want him to stop hacking the ball inside 50 like Ziebell used to do. If he wont stop hacking it then I am not going to lose any sleep if he goes. Is that harsh?
