Depends on who he's talking to tbh.I reckon he’d be on board with this one
I think it was from his manager Robbie D'Orazio.I must have missed that, have you got a link to LDU saying he’s waiting to see improvement before he signs?
Even if he did say that, it would be a weird statement considering he’s one of our senior players that should be responsible for our performance.
In which case of course he's going to say that to drum up the interest in his client, knowing full well he'll be signing eventually.I think it was from his manager Robbie D'Orazio.
Of course. He'd be aware of other offers and is trying to get the best result for his client. In which case of course he's going to say that to drum up the internet in his client, knowing full well he'll be signing eventually.
Yep. And for him personally lol. Don't the agents get a bit of a commission for their clients to sign on?Of course. He'd be aware of other offers and is trying to get the best result for his client.
And from memory that's what Cam's manager said as well, so it's all a bit of a game until it's signed.
Oh yeah for sure, they would negotiate a certain % commission with the player.Yep. And for him personally lol. Don't the agents get a bit of a commission for their clients to sign on?
Looks like Cal and I are on the same page. Be interesting to see what LDU says when he is inevitably asked about it.Also possible, but I don’t think the club would put external pressure on him to sign. Just my take, I have no idea.
But I have spoken to journalists in the past that have talked about the give and take with both managers and clubs.

Yep I'm backing you in. You are the oracle. You were right about George's hamstring being 10-12 weeks.Looks like Cal and I are on the same page. Be interesting to see what LDU says when he is inevitably asked about it.

It's because clubs are willing to have a half cooked bloke on the books earning heaps for a couple of years, if they get that game winning top tier player locked in for the 5 best years of their career while the club is (hopefully) in their window. And if the club who already has the player doesn't want to offer that, another club will, so then they have a decision to make.It pains me to say it, with full awareness that the ship has well and truly sailed, but I agree with the cornhole on this topic. 7 year deals are terrible for clubs. What are we up to now, 9 year deals?
I don’t think we’ve seen one work for a club yet. Particularly in light of the fact clubs have so little bargaining power over trading players in contract. Plus, and this is the big one, clubs essentially make **** all from a marketing perspective of having ‘franchise’ players. The AFL controls 99% of marketing revenue. It makes no sense.
I understand that, but the only one we’ve really got to experience the back end of their career on a long term mega deal is Buddy - an absolute hands-down all-time great. And I still don’t think it really worked out in the Swan’s best interests. It's because clubs are willing to have a half cooked bloke on the books earning heaps for a couple of years, if they get that game winning top tier player locked in for the 5 best years of their career while the club is (hopefully) in their window. I think it'll take a club that just says "we don't hand out more than 5 year contracts" and is prepared to lose those players in a trade or the league steps in and says 5 years is the max contract.I understand that, but the only one we’ve really got to experience the back end of their career on a long term mega deal is Buddy - an absolute hands-down all-time great. I think the first club to implement the strategy of big dollar 3/4 year contracts to star players will win out in the long run.
If its true that he's being offered between 8-9 million over 7 years and he doesn't jump at it then he can leave and go to another club for all l care. Offering him 5 years would have been trumped and may have him feeling insulted, similar to other times players have left because of cheap contracts put to them.Gees 7 years is too long for my liking. Would have been happy for 5 years at 1.3M a year. If he didn't take that then fair enough, trade hard
Well, he isn't up for trade; we get free agency compensation.Gees 7 years is too long for my liking. Would have been happy for 5 years at 1.3M a year. If he didn't take that then fair enough, trade hard
If you match, you force trade. I would 100% force trade if he didnt stay.he isn't up for trade; we get free agency compensation.
7 years? Too long, whats Kane think? 2024 was the first year he had real continuity. He’s had hamstring issues out the wahzoo… why not 4 or 5 years on larger coin?
