Weather wasnt great before KO, some really dark clouds. I went to the match and the south end was packed. Good to see.

Melbourne Heart FC/Adelaide United FC Crowd: 8976 Actual: 6,538
Newcastle Jets FC/Wellington Phoenix FC Crowd: 9211 Actual: 12,147
Brisbane Roar FC/North Queensland Fury Crowd: 16,542
Sydney FC/Perth Glory FC Crowd: 8743
Central Coast Mariners FC/Gold Coast United Crowd: 8766

Thats would mean the average for the round is 10,447 which wouldnt be bad. Big expectations on Brisbane but i think they may be able to do it. I fancy a good crowd for CCM as they havnt been at Blutetongue for months and they are playing well at the moment. Heart should do well tonight, hopefully they exceed my expectation and get over 9k.

Honestly, how was there 500 people less at a Friday night game than on a Sunday night?

Shyte effort.

12k in Newcastle. :thumbsu:

And to think this team was at the lowest of lows just recently.

Does anyone know what the break even crowd number for most clubs is? Seems as though the crowd numbers are lower than I wouldve expected, are any of these clubs even making a profit?

Given the improvement of quality in Australian soccer, I wouldve thought there would be more interest..

Melbourne Victorys break even at Etihad was 12,000 (Hence the AFL uproar) orginaly and then was changed to a fixed money amount returned to the club after each game which is still till this date. At AAMI we have the same contract of a fixed amount which the Heart wanted the same deal but failed to get it.

Brisbane need 10,000 ish.
Adelaide is a very small number.

I know alot of soccer fans who say they don't go to the soccer because the quality is low, this is a load of rubbish, the soccer is actually alright, I think that soccer needs to make a few rule changes (no offside) and get a few more international players and gradually the crowds will grow to a respectable number

No.

6 Fifa's

Gold Coast are the Richest club in the league as you go by owner., yet they are the first to complain about spending money to get it right........ thats what is killing them and the A-League. Keep the Fury and take back the Gold Coast License. The problem wont be fixed till Palmer opens his wallet like Mr Tinckler. To get the crowds back you need to be up to spending

lol @ no offside. That would make the sport so much more boring, while significantly reducing the quality and skill.

Its amazing how the Titans can get over 26k to games in a 27.4k stadium (Skilled Park) for a 4 year old club that has gone 12th, 13th, 3rd, 4th. Even in their 1st season Titans had the second-highest average attendance of all NRL clubs for 2007 (at a 25k stadium).

Yet there is 0 demand for A-League.
