7k in Wellington

10k in Newcastle

9k in Brisbane

That would be good enough, imo.

Absolutely idiotic that the derby is on a weeknight - would have pushed 15k, and perhaps even more, if it were on the weekend like it should be.

I'd think CC and Brisbane crowds will be alright

Brisbane's crowds are on the improve Barkley St, but apart from two matches where under 14's have been free they haven't been 'opening the gates'. Its been more to do with having a good side than giving stuff away.

At least the FFA should learn from there mistakes for next season.

Have the mid-week games during school holidays and not derbys.

I'd like to make 2 points please....

1: I have been to every Melb Victory home game this year and I can absolutely guarantee that the figures they have been releasing as the official attendance(except 1st game against Glory, 20.000) are totally wrong. No way are those figures correct and no way was there lees than 10.000 there last Thursday night against Central Coast.

2: I agree with many posts here that the FFA need to do MUCH more advertising on FTA TV, no question as there is literally zero advertising on TV here in Melb that I have seen anyway, also the media in general, Print, radio and TV(SEN excluded) need to have more ads, stories etc on the A-league. Very often, even in the middle of summer, on the weekend sports report, the A-league might get a 10 second mention with no images as its 5th or 6th sports report story for the night...not good enough!!!

I think Melbourne Victory's main problem is that they dont have general admission seating at AAMI Park.
Honestly who's dumb idea was that? By doing this it has shut out any potential for members to bring in friends who arn't members at games.
Hopefully next season both ends behind the goals become general admission however i doubt they will make a sensible decision like this

Yeah, I've noticed this.

That's the great thing about our games; it's just a first in best dressed basis behind the goals and you don't have to worry about designated seating.

Must agree.

North and South ends are empty these days. With GA we can have those ends full!

Don't think so, it looked pretty sparse against the Mariners and certainly looked similar to Storm games i have seen with under 10K. If you could absolutely guarantee the figures are wrong you would have proof, so until you can show proof the OFFICIAL attendance figures are 100% correct.

I think the derby could hit 12-14K later despite it being midweek, seems to be more interest around here than normal and its a pleasant evening too.

There was a 3,000 difference in Crowd Announced (17,000) and Official Crowd (20,358) for Victorys first match at AAMI Park. Also you can just walk into the ground at Half Time as no tickets are checked and there is no pass out system used.

Crowd in Wellington is 4,738

this is unlikely to ever happen

due to the inevitable overcrowding that will occur and MOPT's ridiculous "no standing past row T" rule.

the set up they have for the South End at Heart games is the best solution. reserved active section surrounded by a GA section.

Also anyone who stands in there designated HEM seat is a chump. I have no clue where my seat is and have no interest in finding out

Hindmarsh and NIB Stadium I think have the same set up as this. Victory did have walk up behind the goals until Season 4 when the FFA demanded the area be full reserved. If you look at old Videos of games both the North and South Ends were packed

I paid £180 for a season ticket for Northern Irelands last WC qualifiers and never seen or sat in the seat. sitting is overated!

it becomes a safety issue.

the stadium authority/insurance/FFA are trying to prevent what they see as dangerous overcrowding(more then one person person per seat)

and the easiest way to do this is via a HEM

I must admit, after I wrote this, I also laughed rather hard.

well do you have a better suggestion

Two ways:
Do what they did at the 2009 Grand Final where everyone gets a wrist band to enter the North Terrus

or

Do what they do at the MCC at the MCG. First in Best Dressed. Give everyone a seat number as they walk into the bays at the North and South Ends.

still requires the issuing of area specific tickets. which is the main complaint.

also unless you hand out different wrist band for each bay, you're still going to have overcrowding issues

Do what they do at the MCC at the MCG. First in Best Dressed. Give everyone a seat number as they walk into the bays at the North and South Ends.

sounds like a logistical nightmare and technically it is still reserved seating.

working at the MCG the MCC system works well for the big matches. Same can happen here. You put 2 staff members on each bay and when you walk into the bay hand out a seat number. Very simple. Just means you get none of this rubbish that the areas sold out when it isn't!!!

atm moment i have S38 hem membership with movement allowed, this means i can turn up 20 mins before the game stand anywhere i like in the 1st 19 rows of S38. I can stand up the back or I can stand down the front i get a choice

Under your plan

I have to turn up 2+ hours before the game, rush to the bay to collect a seat number and then stand in that seat for rest of the night.

i'd much rather the current system then any of your alternatives.

Another great crowd, there was the chance of storms around so could have potentially put off a few.
