Suggestions of dinosaur coaches like Blight, Cahill and Choco are hilarious. We need someone young and hungry who the players want to play for. Schofield was a perfect fit to take over but we pissed him off because he was the only one who had the balls to stand up to the Donut King. Kingsley would have been a perfect fit. Ex player, spent a lot of time away from the club learning his coaching craft. Mitchell was never a realistic option but you can see what he's doing now with Hawthorn. Carr I'm not sure of anymore. I was keen when he first came but each passing week the same stench remains. All I know is we need to get Hinkley out the door before we can assess anything. We also need to bring in some more coaching talent from outside. Chad Cornes, Hamish Hartlett and Matthew Lobbe are hardly inspiring choices when it comes to assistants.

To be fair to the OP he wants a #Malcom style cleanout ala Camryland 1996 which wouldn't be a bad thing.

It would be the equivalent now of someone ruthless coming in & pissing off Dixon, Boak, Wines, Burton etc. before they walk through the door.

Carr will be holding back, just giving enough. He’ll let loose when he’s in the big chair.

I'm sort of preparing to give him the benefit of the doubt if he makes it clear he wants the job next year.

The Clarkson situation at the Hawks where they get rid of a successful contacted premiership coach or Mitchell walks.

Carr needs to do the same thing at Port.
Ken goes or he goes. That happens I'll get on board.

Thanks for that, I thought it was self explanatory.

Where I do get encouraged about Carr is I keep reading little snippets where he is taking an interest in the players individually, and what is going on.

For example, someone said that he was at the huddle at a break in the SANFL game. I've never seen or heard that Hinkley has any involvement with any SANFL player in all these years.

Involved at a basic level.

I have trust that Josh Carr can do a good job if he's surrounded by good people. Anybody who has primarily played under Hinkley should not be considered for any coaching positions that require any strategy. Happy to have Robbie and Travis in some capacity. Robbie in list management and Travis in some type of high performance fitness role.

I can live with giving Carr a shot if a few other things happen such as the assistants being cleared off and a fresh look at the reserves model, whether it be in the SANFL, VFL or whatever it needs a rethink with an experienced state league coach appointed to get the balance of development & playing to win in the right space.

You won't agree, but I would give Choco another go.
Don't let the malaise of his last couple of years colour the first 6 - 7.
And hed be a better coach now than he was then.
Chocolate won't ever be able to stay in his lane at Port. I love the idea but it's no good. He's a megalomaniac and thinks the club is his birthright. Fos and Jack knew their place as the coach and let the administration administer.

I just want to get back to being hated like the good old days. Koch wants to be everyone's friend - I say stuff that. We were despised by all and sundry for well over a century, and we were bloody successful.

Boak needs to leave the club. He is totally Hinklefied. Him Staying in any capacity just solidifies the nepotitic circle jerking cuddly little club of near enough is good enough no hopers that has embodied this regime and Hinkleys tenure.

That is really good to hear.

It is odds on that Josh Carr will take over after an exhaustive process of looking down the hall way for our next coach.

If I really think about it, Hinkley is probably a 2 out of 10 as a coach. We have the list. We just need someone to coach the team well and even if Carr is a 6 or 7, then we should compete. Hopefully he is a very good coach and brings out the best in the players and is a 9 or 10 on the coaching scale.

He has the profile to be a good coach but who knows.

Justin Leppitsch should be heavily targeted as a director of football.

Whether Carr is a good coach or not, I can't wait to find out. I definitely can't wait until 2026 to find out - there's no possible reason for Ken to be here next year: especially if we miss the 8.

We've still got Rozee and Rioli to come back but if I was a betting man, I'd probably say we miss the 8 but if the lads are asked by Hinkley to play hard, we could make the 8.

Hard to tell.

Start the Carr.

Absolutely! The guy has a fantastic footy brain. Multiple Premiership player. Plus he sounds like a decent guy. He's my choice for our next coach but it will be Josh park the Carr.

We will make the eight - probably finish fifth or sixth. Probably a home final against Collingwood.

Geez that's no way to be a father figure to the players......
