I'm interested in how everyone feels about selling the naming rights to the club? The Mazda Kangaroos or whatever it would be. Surely it would be worth multiple millions more which should allow facilities to be built at Arden St.

Is it a no go zone?

How can you, of all people, suggest this when you are disgusted that the club changed it's name in the first place. Are U serious?

Well if they do that then they can get stuffed. Instead of having around 25000 members they will have about 10000. There is only so much you can sell out and still get away with and North are pushing it enough as it is. If they truely sell out with the name then many fans will say fahhh kewww.
Surely your just stirring the pot. Where will it end i guess is the question?

I think the club should seriously consider the idea of re-naming us NORTH MELBOURNE. The Home of Mazda. ;) Money & Name is a WIN/WIN !

Surely a new MAZDA showroom in the area would be enough...no need to go the naming rights thing as it will SHOOT DOWN the club fabric and everything we stand for.

So if Mazda came to North and said "okay we have a briefcase here and inside it is $7.5 million in cash, all you have to do is call yourselves Mazda Kangaroos for 5 years" people would object and not buy a membership... no wonder Geoff finds it hard to keep everyone happy... to me it is a gold mine... imagine how many memberships the club would have to sell to make that sort of money... remember this money could wipe our debt... so when you include interest payable... it could be worth $15 - $20 million...

this all goes back to having principles and no footy club... or every now and again doing something that is not pleasent to ensure we as a club are around for the next 100 years...

now if they try and change our colours I will fight to the death... :D :D

So if they change the name that's ok but if they change the colours then it's not?
What happened to blindly supporting the club no matter what?
You see how some of these board decisions leave a few of us a little angry.

Anyway you are probably right. If Mazda were to pay us $7.5 m in cash then I guess we would be mad to knock it back. The club would have to do some damn fine sucking up to present and past members though or every game could look like a manuka crowd.

Agree wholeheartedly.

I just loved listening top Laidley 'plead' on national TV for North supporters to become MEMBERS. Or else North will be forced to return to 92% of the salary cap. And no rookies. It is so embarrassing. And bloody disheartening.
Making a stand over something very petty, places North's long-term future in jeopardy.

And there are questions being posed as to what will happen to our 'spiritual home'??

at no stage did I say I would not renew my membership... just that I would fight to the death... :) :)

I realise some decisions are annoying... I was completely pi55ed when they aborted the Casey move... this to me was the saviour of our club... but if you think I am going to have a cry... take my bat and ball home... and not buy a membership... well that just aint shinboner stuff... :D

Well done Geoff Walsh and the Administrative team down at Arden Street.

Nice to see you mingling with the members and keeping an eye on the forum for what the 'people' have to say.

I sure have a soft spot for the Roo's, after all... your fine President does my teeth!!!! :D

Good luck in 05!

I don't mean to be blunt here, but im glad you guys didn't fold.

Andrew.

Obviously Dean feels for the supporters and not just members... wasn't it him that said... "that was the whole thrust of winning today to get back to Melbourne and let our supporters and members see us before the real season"... so there you go all you supporters that are feeling alienated... don't... Dean is thinking of you... :D :D

And now we have Shannon Grant saying "We needed the win, and it beats going to Port Lincoln this week. And to be able to come back to Melbourne and get a game in front of our members and our supporters is what we wanted." maybe the club has been listening...

is there any particular reason as to why we need to keep dragging up the past other than to bag the people that sort to kill us off ?
Good enough reason for me.

I think this thread should be stickied and locked.

I think he was reincarnated as our CEO :( This thread needs to be read, start to finish, by a fair few people in our camp. Glad everything's ended up working out for your club. Having Euge 'give the club back to the members, its rightful owners' must have been a wonderful feeling for all those that fought the good fight.

While I still wish them all the best and still follow the team there is still little doubt in my mind that the club will be gone as soon as they get a good enough offer so I do not feel it is the responsibility of me or any other supporter to prop up the company until that occurs.

Change the articles of association or whatever that will say under no circumstance will the club relocate out of Melbourne and will play the majority of home games in melbourne and then I would believe that the club is not just buying time until it can relocate.

This dude is a visionary, he knew what those jokers were up to. :p

Thank the **** for JB and the crew.
