Wells by the length of the straight.

Consistent peformer who can be damaging for the LENGTH of the game, not just for 5 minutes at a time.

Davey goes too cold too often in my opinion.

The Rod > Jason Cloke > Shane Harvey

Im getting Deja Vu here.....

Wells is obviously better as a top 5 pick with Davey being a rookie draft pick who has turned into a big blunder in selection for the whole AFL.
Wells has a few attributes over Davey such as:
-Experience
-Consistency
-Better mark
But Davey is only in his first year while Wells is in his third. Wells is a utility who will probably end up on the HBF/Wing, while Davey should be forever a forward pocket with maybe a few stints on the wing during the season but mainly up forward. Davey is a specialist player, while Wells is a versatile player who can just be put on the ball.
Like the Buckley vs Hird argument, its really who you need. A specialist forward pocket or a HBF/Wing?
If I had a choice it would be Wells but I'm very happy with Davey who will develop into the best crumbing small forward in the league.

Why stop at this comparison, why not compare Chris Judd to Steven Milne, or Michael Voss to Phillip Matera?

I mean, sure Aaron Davey showed a lot of promise around goal, and he showed that he's blazingly fast, but Daniel Wells has shown all that, and then also the ability to be a matchwinner for his team in the midfield, which is obviously far above and beyond what we've seen from Davey.

Davey may end up being little more than a Milne/Matera type, capable of kicking 40-50 goals as a small forward, or he may turn out to be as good as Wells, but at the moment, you have to go with what Wells has shown.

The fact that someone is comparing a second pick in the draft to a rookie selection is a win for Melbourne.

No it isnt. The fact is that Someone is blatantly stupid.

How many times have we had this thread?

Just for the record, Wells.

At least this time it wasn't started by a Roos supporter trying to feel good about themselves after giving up Davey for Shane Harvey

Aaron Davey is possibly the most overrated player in the AFL.

That was where the origin of the thread came from, the fact that I think Davey is hugely overrated.

And apologies for the repition of the thread, I hadn't come across it before in my travels on here.

Had Davey not been injured we would have seen something special every week, he was no where near his best after he returned ... Rowdy said early in the year that he will be a wing player when his body matures ...Wells was playing Senior footy in Perth as a 16 yr old , in two years time it will be a good comparison...

Wells obviously.
I have a feeling, and I could very well be wrong, that Davey might have played his best footy already, and that the recruiters were right. Not to say that the Demons haven't had a good return in taking a punt on him even if he doesn't play again. Although not the same type of player, I keep thinking of Adrian McAdam, and how his career petered out after a brilliant beginning.
But what would I know.
And even though the Roos could have picked him up, I see he is an exciting player to watch, and I hope he plays for many seasons ( with average games against the Roos)
