Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

With a second going back from memory?

I'd expect Carlton's first rounder and a swap of picks equivalent to a second probably gets it done.
Do Freo have any FS / NGA kids in the next couple of years? That might influence the trade too, as later 2022 picks to cover bids would suddenly become valuable.

Teams who need points (Collingwood/Bulldogs) may be interested in pick swaps too to help the deal along.

From what I recall it was pick 7 in 2015, pick 7 in 2016 (which got chewed up in academy bidding,) pick 65 in 2015 and a second round back.

I don't know if we'll get it but I do genuinely think we should push for that second first round pick, even if it's a late first round or we have to send something back to Carlton.

Very quick to call that out compared to all the other tangential conversations that go on. A bit sensitive about the truth maybe?

Or maybe because it was the post directly underneath my most recent one, hence seeing it first. There's a conspiracy board on BF too though if you need directions?

Freo have been in SPS’ ear for months if not years now. He’ll get a two year deal at minimum. Your list management clearly rates him enough to pursue him and that’s all that matters. He won’t be an after thought in the rookie draft.

Agree Cerra is worth more than 6-8.
So wait why do most recent reports say that we dont have much interest in sps at all?

To all you supporters of Carlton saying Pick 8 will do it. I ask you this. Would you rather have Pick 8 or Cerra. If you asked anyone with a brain it would be Cerra right? 2 first round picks is about right with something going back. SPS is worth nothing currently. Maybe Dows name could be raised but even then he hasnt shown much at all.

GWS gave Collingwood Treloar and pick 28 in return for the Pies’ first picks in 2 drafts, in addition to pick 62. (treloar was 22 at the time of the deal. Cerra is a better kick than treloar and is improving his ball volume)
Shiel and a future second round pick got to the Bombers in exchange for pick nine and a future first-round pick. (Shiel was 25 at the time of the trade. Cerra is a better kick than Shiel)

Zac Williams deal was big enough to get GWS pick 10 as a free agent deal. Williams is half the footballer Cerra is

Adam Saad age 26 at trade The Blues have sent picks No.8 and 87 to the Bombers, who will return picks No.48 and 78 to the Blues.

Cerra is already a better footballer than Saad...comfortably.

Personally I can't see anything less than Shiel or Treloar

Yes but all of those trades were bad trades. Although if Carlton are involved you never know.....

Left field option, but Freo would presumably get two first rounders if they agreed to take on part of all Mitch McGovern's contract. Only considering he is a WA kid and 2 + 2 = 5 at this time of year.
He's somewhat of a marking forward if he gets his body right.

What about the following trade hypothetical for Cerra between CAR/FRE/GWS?

CAR --> FRE: Pick #6 2021
FRE --> CAR: Adam Cerra
CAR --> GWS: Sam Petrevski-Seton
GWS --> FRE: Stephen Coniglio (plus some payment of salary e.g. $300K x 2 years)

Carlton get their man.
Freo get a high draft pick plus a ready-made midfield replacement at a slightly discounted salary.
GWS get salary cap relief from a contract that is hanging around their neck plus a (risky but cheap) midfield replacement.
Cerra gets home.
Coniglio gets a fresh start in his home state.
SPS gets another crack.

When’s Mitch McGovern’s contract expire?

Cerra is a better kick but Treloar was more explosive, won more ball, kicked more goals, got more clearances. Treloar had a better first 4 years.

Shiel was contracted Williams was a free agent completely irrelevant to what he is getting paid

Saad was a terrible trade and i thought that at the time.

The only thing all those deals have in common is they in hindsight are overpays.

Freo got him for pick 5. He has only gotten better since then, and he will play for another 10+ years. I don't know why thinking he is worth two first rounders is such a crazy thing? Brisbane got two picks for Beams if I recall, and he was much much older. Geelong got that for Kelly points wise I believe, or close enough. And Cerra will probably be a better player then Kelly.

I don't think Freo will get that, but I think a top 10 and a late first rounder isn't exactly daylight robbery.
Why do those players mean anything to the value of Cerra? Both of those players had shown a lot more than Cerra.

Where Freo drafted him is also irrelevant

Straight up he is not worth two firsts when one is a top 10 pick for sure and fair chance the other would be to. That is crazy

You were being racist assuming SPS has had off field issues, comparing him to Chris Yarran. Don’t try and spin it around.
Easy card to play.

Never said that SPS has issues but Blues do have issues with the truth.

Fremantle has a history of taking on underperforming talent players with off field issues ie Hogan, Bennell, Sylvia, McCarthy.

I don't trust my club with doing their homework and I don't trust the Blues telling the truth.

Best form of defense is attack.

Interesting. I really didn't think SPS was rated so low. Are there issues that I'm not aware of?

I thought he looked a player in his first couple of seasons... I'd back a good culture in to turn him around. Would have thought he'd be worth a late first in a trade.

Could say the same thing about Brisbane when Charlie Cameron at the time.

Things Can change pretty quickly in footy, especially as it seems likely Alastair Clarkson will be coaching us next season
.
Very quickly it seems.

Gotta laugh with the media running with "The offer he cannot refuse" only for it to be refused later that day.

Not your fault you thought he was coming with the media spin on it and the source likely from the Carlton camp. But if Carlton thought sacking a coach the way they look to be doing it to Teauge would make clarko interested in coaching for them they really have no idea how clarko operates.
