Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

And this feels a lot like last year with Saad by Blues fans.

"He's not worth pick 8!"
"He's only worth pick 6!"

The reality is, Carlton paid pick 8, with change going to them, which was his approximate worth. They're going to pay pick 6 and then some. Cerra is a better and younger player than Saad, so all this posturing means sweet FA because if they try the PSD route it won't work.

Still think he is Demons bound with Demons just giving up most of there future picks for him. Cerra ain’t picking Carlton when Melbourne want him. How stupid do you think he is

Melbourne dont have the trade assets to get it done.

nah this yeah most rational blues fans and non carlton hatign neutral would agree, he is worth a top 10 pick and change
it will be pick 6 + haggle over the steak knives

I think most Carlton fans expect it to be pick 6 plus change. Wouldn't be surprised if this deal becomes dependent on some other deals getting done first to get the appropriate later picks such as the pick we get for SPS to West Coast. Something like pick 6 plus the SPS pick for Cerra and a third rounder.

Yeah...it also means SFA as this is BF and we aren't actually making the trades...

Pick 6 gets it done.

Go now, don't look back, we've drawn the line
Move on, it's no good to go back in time
We're gonna get pick 6 for you,
For happy endings it takes two
We're fire and ice, the dream won't come true
Cerra, Cerra, storms are brewin' in your eyes
Cerra, Cerra, no time is a good time for goodbyes

Why would Freo take the 4th or 5th rounder you get for SPS and give you a 3rd rounder back?

The most Melbourne can offer is a future first round pick and fringe or somewhat limited players.

Tom McDonald or Gus Brayshaw (either direct to Freo or by 3rd party) made sense but Brayshaw just played really well in a flag and McDonald just got a contract extension, so neither of those look likely. Same can be said for other players on the list who might draw 2nd or 3rd round picks to beef up the offer, it's possible but doesn't get us that much closer.

No way we offer up a quality young player, no matter how good Cerra is it doesn't make sense to kick someone out just to bring him in.

Freo will probably send him to the PSD or National Draft rather than accepting a future first and change, so I suspect in the best interests of Cerra and Melbourne we have politely pulled out.

I'm surprised no other club is looking to shift a bit of money around and get in on it. Cerra obviously isn't asking for the world in terms of salary if Melbourne thought it was viable cap wise.

Brayshaw is a heart and soul player. Not only that, but third in a Brownlow, and now a proven performer on the big stage. He is entering his peak, just as the Dees are. You don’t get rid of players like this for Adam Cerra, who may or may not ever reach the level of Angus Brayshaw. You don’t do it when you don’t need to. Simple. Freo are smart to ask for Jackson. It was more realistic before last night. Now it’s practically impossible. Asking price for Jackson right now would be monumental.

Brayshaw got all of Oliver's votes that year, he wasn't top 5 in Melbourne's best and fairest that year, he's now an honest role player out of position. Cerra's already a better player than Gus. You'd do Cerra for Brayshaw and a future first if you could.

Jackson was never realistic. A nice bit of posturing for the media but never would be entertained by Melbourne.

There is as much chance of us getting Jackson this year as there was chance of the Dees landing Cerra without trading a best 22 player. Especially after last night, both are no chance.

I think you have his value correct. However, I think the PSD route could work well, very well.

If the trade looks like it's going south and I'm North, Collingwood or Hawthorne, I'm finishing my deals and taking him there.

There must be a way Chief can create a bot that just posts random PSD threats into threads during trade week.

If you seriously think we should trade Angus Brayshaw after his game last night and what he brings to the club then think again. Just thinking about it makes me sick.
