Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

I am a yes for Cerra for pick #6.
I am a no for Cerra for pick #6 and another good pick.
CFC needs to go to the draft as we have a few holes so Cerra is no messiah based on our current position.
A 1st and a 2nd isnt messiah currency. Think about Dow and LOB. 2 x top 10s. They arent even in your best 22. Cerra is a 10 year, proven best 22 classy mid.

A trade that has been remarked upon as one of the worst of all time. Great call.

Adam Saad got pick 8. Cerra is a better and younger player than Saad, so how is 14 and pick 30-ish better than pick 8?
Giving up 8 for Saad is the worst trade of all time and if Austin pulls that shit again this year he will be out the door before the paperwork is signed.

Watch Saad play next year and you'll eat your words. He and Williams on opposite half back flanks really just need to be organised and coached better and they'll fire Carlton into the 8 IMO. My only concern over the Blues is scoring firepower. Even if Curnow continues his recovery you're still a couple goal kickers short.

I watched him play this year and no I won't, he should have been brought in for a 2nd rounder or not at all.

In order to improve you need to get more then average from your assests, overpaying for a solid but Mediocre mid is a sure fire way to go backwards as a club.

Don’t wanna see him go to Carlton and you guys are much better placed

You‘re also not far off

I’d most want him to go to Carlton - pick 6 is the easiest cornerstone to any deal we do.

Really depends on how much scoreboard impact Cripps Walsh and Cerra could provide in a better system and all at full health. I think our forward stocks are reliable for a good portion of goals each game. Owies and Honey arent superstars but after withering away in the 2s and then Teague being forced to play them its clear they have a knack of finding goals and do it quite well. If Curnow comes back to average 2 goals a game and Mckay stays in form I don't see any issue with the forward line output.

We have lacked the required scoreboard impact from our mids for quite some time now but if a new defensive system can hold up then players like Walsh Cripps and Cerra can focus more on scoreboard impact than they normally would. This all depends on two things though - Cerra nominating us...and Voss being a good coach.

How about this, to add 'steak knives' to the deals for both Clark and Cerra, but also give everyone what they want with minimal change to the 'core' of the trades.

Carlton - OUT: 6 and 25 - IN: Cerra and 34
Freo - OUT: Cerra and 27 - IN: 6 and Clark
Geelong - OUT Clark and 34 - IN: 25 and 27

Essentially on top of the agreed upon value of both 6 for Cerra and 27 for Clark, from most, it winds up being:

Gives us a 9 pick upgrade
Gives Carlton a 9 pick downgrade
Gives Freo Clark but they only lose Pick 27

Means that the steak knives they get in the Cerra deal, is essentially transferred to us in the Clark deal (enough to satisfy us given he's in contract, but not too outlandish that it turns Freo off - similar to the Caldwell deal last year).

Just a thought...don't all attack me at once, lol

I don't hate the idea of giving Carlton something back for 6 + 25 (it's less than what Freo would want but thems the breaks). I've already said in the Clark thread that I think 25 plus a 7 spot upgrade of your existing second round pick is um... generous for Clark.

It also values Cerra at significantly worse than pick 6 maybe Geelong would like to to throw in something to even it up a little.

Why would Cerra chose Carlton before Richmond? Is it about his manager pushing for the biggest contract?
Richmond have absolutely no cap space. Why do you think that the likes of Choil and Callum Jones are leaving.

Full credit to them getting Lynch in and it paid off handsomely but back ending his contract (something like $450k first 3 years and $1.35 mill final 3) was always going to bite.

Who knows the might find some other way to clear some space.

Chol is leaving because someone grabbed his c**k.
CCJ is leaving for money and a ruck roll.

Yeah nah, 6 on its own is already too much for Cerra to then be giving up 25 as well is fantasy

They have also taken on Robbie Tarrant which wouldnt have come cheap. Also have a heap of blokes like Cotchin, Lambert, Graham who have played for unders to have success and then to bring a bloke like Cerra in on more $ having produced very little isnt great for team harmony.
