Hawks won't part ways with Rioli, and Doggies wouldn't want Osbourne
How about a Franklin/Ceglar type then?

Longer is a good potential ruckman, so wouldn't mind it ( don't care if it never happens either )Coons wont be at Hawks. Very good rumour for Coons as he is about to negotiate a new deal.
Fingers crossed we get Billy Longer from the Lions and a couple of young quick mids that can re-energise a midfield that has maximum 1 season left.
Forget Ellis being apart of any trade. That horse bolted 3 years ago when we should of pulled the trigger.

I can't imagine we'd get Cooney... can't dream how we could possibly offer him more than the dogs would be prepared to pay so a trade would have to happen.
If we could afford him in the salary cap and the Dogs were happy with our first round pick then I'd be all over it
There's 2ways of going about itCooney is great player, but he is ageing with dodgy knees.
Would rather they trade for some young midfielders from GWS or Gold Coast. If they don't regenerate the midfield in this draft, there have'nt got long left as a premiership contender.
There's 2ways of going about it
Regenerate with kids, and have them for 8 years, but maybe drop a little as kids need to mature
Or
Top up with experienced proven talent, but only have them for 2 years before retirement
There's a risk and a reward in doing either
Yes you are rightOr we could do both, as such as sign Cooney as a FA then get a trade done for Taylor Adams, be more creative & you would have figured that out
i might be physically ill if that were true ... we need younger, faster players to rejuvinate our mid, not another old fella
He's restrictedThe key here is if buddy stays or goes, and or if Cooney is restricted or unristricted.
If he's restricted then the bulldogs will and can match any offer we put on the table, which most likely wont be high.
I don't see why we can't go down the Geelong path, they have been playing there youth for the past 2 years, whilst also adding to its list by trading for players with already 2 to 3 years development in them. We have 3 players in our rerserves frothing at the mouth for game time Hallahan Anderson Langford on top of that adding an Adams type, We can still challenge blending in youth with Hodge Mitchell and Burgoyne as our main stayers. Sewell is cooked and we have too many of the same type of midfielder compared to Geelongs veterans. One has to go.
Geelong has a midfield core of verterans Corey Johnson Kelly Bartel, Selwood in the middle aged bracket and then a core of youngsters
If they can get pick 5 as a result of him leaving, they'd be crazy not to let him go. I just hope it's not us that he come to.What do your reckon he would be asking money wise ? 450 - 650K ? Don't think we can afford that either way? Its up to him if he wants to leave for less money....don't think he will, its probably his last contract.
The bulldogs will let him go and not match a high price because he may fall in the tier 1 category.....it would be Pick 5 for them. I would let Cooney go in a heartbeat for that pick. Its probably what they want all along.....because they wont get that pick in a trade.
How are we gonna get pick 5?If they can get pick 5 as a result of him leaving, they'd be crazy not to let him go. I just hope it's not us that he come to.
How are we gonna get pick 5?
We're not. I was replying to Dipper and his comments about the Dogs receiving pick 5 (I'm assuming) from the AFL if Cooney left. Although I'm not sure how that works. How are we gonna get pick 5?
He said they..... the bulldogs, as compensation from the AFL/free agency for losing Cooney.
Ahhhh gotcha now. We're not. I was replying to Dipper and his comments about the Dogs receiving pick 5 (I'm assuming) from the AFL if Cooney left. Although I'm not sure how that works.
If Adam Cooney really wanted to come to Hawthorn... I think the Hawks & Dogs should sit down first to discuss it & see how to go about it. If they can't sought out a trade... then I don't believe Doggies would hold Cooney back if he decides that he doesn't want to stay there.
I would take our first rounder off the table & set that aside for Taylor Adams...
