The basic stuff like a hard tag on LDU half way through the 2nd when he's shredding us. I think we were down 37 to 16 in clearances. Fair enough we're out Kelly and Reid but throw others in there. Sheed is pretty much useless. Healey was saying in commentary move Cripps on ball. And then he threw Ryan in there early in the 4th. The game was lost in the 2nd and 3rd because he doesn't make adjustments. Too rigid.

Why was there only intensity in the 4th quarter? Why can Simpson not motivate the team to perform for 4 quarters? It cannot be down to the young players as even the old players don't put in high intensity for 4 quarters
Interestingly enough Simpson in the presser said he asked the players after the game why they couldn't play like that from the start.

Lol the coach asked them players ....

It's a fair question, but why didn't he ask where was the intensity vs Adelaide, or vs St Kilda last week? He just seems to do nothing and the same things happen over and over again

The point is, we had far more scoring shots and if we were close to 50% accuracy, we'd have easily won the game.
Actually if you were to apply statistical averages, considering degree of difficulty, to both teams scoring shots, north still beat us by 2 points.

He’s been doing enough to shelve any talk of a mid season sacking

He hasn’t been doing well enough to justify any contract extension

When the season is finished there will need to be an honest discussion about what the plan is beyond 2025 because going into next year as a bottom 4 club with an uncontracted coach is a recipe for instability

How we close out this year will have a large influence on what that discussion looks like

It still applies but his chances of staying into 2025 have taken a blow the last 3 weeks after a promising month or so before the Crows game

There’s been improvement but we are still too reliant of having close to a full list to be competitive

A lot will depend on how the young players develop in the back half of the season because unless there’s signs of growth from the 23 and under brigade we’re likely better off with a new voice

Still happy for him to see out the year

Actually mixed it up in the last and it almost worked, but he's so slow and reluctant to change despite the same old not working.

Perfect opportunity to show the improvement this year was not all down to a 19 year old freak talent but sadly Simmos gone back to his guys and they've let him down yet again.

It simply comes down to how much we have pay out where the club looks like it’s not wasting money. When is that time?
His time is stamped by a financial decision , not a coaching ability decision .

We were better off with a new voice at the end of last year.

You trying to play the calm rational reasonable voice is just middle management indecision.

If Pyke had been in place this time last year then Simmo would be gone by now. We’d also have a much better handle on the versatility and longevity of a number of the players on the list that Simmo pigeonholes and we’d have moved past some of the guys that are only here because of contract status and the credits with the current coach.

We don’t move on coaches mid season, I agree on that, but that’s why the weak knees under pressure from JL during a period of some turmoil at end of last season were so disappointing.

If the coach cannot motivate the players to play at their best for an entire game, surely there must be a disconnect between him and the players. If that exists, that's a pretty big issue.

What many don’t understand is how exciting it is for a playing group to get a new coach. New message, everyone starts again . New game plan, new non negotiables.
Our club needs this and it is impossible for Simmo to bring this to the table.
Simmo has been a good coach and a great contributor to our club, it’s just time to part ways.

I'm still keen on Simo coaching, if only so the next in gets a team through the worst of it.
This is the ONLY reason I want him to stay.

Take the blows while we're crap.

Reckon 1 more year of Simmo and that'll do.

But all new faces are being installed with his message , you want Harley and co to know nothing about Simmo.

Certainly some valid arguments to move the magnets with the likes of Liam Ryan and Ryan Maric but the damage was done on turnovers and poor decision making from the bottom few players. ie. injuries and list management. Most of the team were quite good today. Some of the defensive efforts around the ground were fantastic and prevented several goals.

Too stubborn and thinks he's always right, when evidence clearly shows he isn't. Imagine getting his salary to continuously make poor decisions and not be held accountable. If he was an asx listed ceo his company would have gone from 2 billion per year profit to losing 500 million per year

Nah it Woukd of been someone else’s fault…..lol

It’s down to MC, and no doubt Simmo has a say there, but, while JHutch wasn’t the worst I do question the wisdom of bringing him in so soon. (Especially as we’re hardly light on for KPFs.)

And not as Q4 sub but a whole game. We endlessly hear about sticking to ‘the process’, and also ‘synergy’, I just wonder how he could be expected to learn it all in a week or so.

Maybe with the bye next week at both levels the thought was to give him some immediate exposure. Besides, we’re only playing stone motherless last North. What could possibly go wrong?

I suppose at least he wasn’t played on the HBF or wing or in the ruck.

So much for ’the process’.

I still say Mitchell is the reason we won 2018.

This is such a shit take.

He was a rookie assistant coach.

I’ve been around long enough to remember the jokers convinced 2006 was all Sumich too. Until he ****ed off to Fremantle that is…

If it’s Simpson’s fault when it’s shit then he sure as hell deserves the plaudits when he takes us to a flag.
