I still stand with simmo
Is that a rubber chicken reference to funny young Simmo shenanigans at Norf?

Buck stops with the senior coach, always has and always should.
Trying to deflect to other reasons is typical of us as a club.
Simmo has done a great job for the club, his time has come and gone and there is nothing at all left he has to offer us. Time to move him on, pay him out and pay the AFL the tax.
The environment needs to change and our young crop of players can no longer be exposed to Simmo and his current setup.
How much say does a senior coach have in who they draft and recruit?

Surely a chance he comes to some sort of buy out agreement and walks away at the end of the season?
For what it's worth I think we need to clean out a fair chunk of the football and recruitment departments as well, they all need to share the blame for this debacle

Likely.

In the meantime I say we start a full Nesbitt offensive, beginning with fish heads in his hub-caps.

I agree Simpson won't be our coach during our next finals run, but he should be the coach while we bottom out over the next year or two, so these young players have the experience of two different coaches.

A new coach, won't add to anymore wins, our list and age profile with injuries is just horrible. But i agree, a new face is needed after a decade.

We don't throw loyal servants under a bus, takes a special type of Scum Club to do that ...... oh and then hand the carnage over to the AFL to sort out.

We aren't talking about 'servants'. These people are paid professionals. They aren't doing the job out of loyalty. They are doing it to get paid... BIG money.

Never a good look for a Club treating a Premiership Coach with such distain.

Never a good look for a club to get thrashed by more than 100 points by the last placed team.

There should be a lot of people at the club who's positions are untenable starting with most of the top end. Really the entire club is stale (something that's been said for a few years) and changes need to be made in every area, but the problem is who do you bring in to run the rebuild? The last thing we need is to end up with someone like Captain Feathercap running the show.

I don't know how I became a rational spokesperson for the club this year but here I am.

How can one expect a competitive effort when there is 27 to pick from each week?

How can one be competitive when each game there at least 2 players going out injured and underdone players rushed back in?

A lot needs to change. The drafting and S&C are at the top of the list.

Calm your farm. There are no quick fixes. This will be our longest ever rebuild.

We are lucky Simmo has stayed on thus far because he or any other replacement is on a hiding to nothing.

i think he goes halfway through the rebuild. Hands the reigns over.

He should not be judged on the shit hand he's been dealt with. No doubt he's made many mistakes, many of which I was very critical of 4 / 5 years ago. But this is not of his doing.

This is is year 2 of a 7 year rebuild.

For the record I'm not in the sack Simmo wagon as like most have said there's not another person in the world that is going to make a difference. But today is borderline one of the darkest days I can remember being an Eagles supporter and I won't be surprised by any headlines popping up through the week.

Nisbett on the other hand - and I'll spell his name correctly in this case to show how serious I am about him - outstayed his welcome years ago. He said he was going after getting us back on track (early 2010s), then after finishing moving to Optus, then into our new facilities, and next will be "until we get out of this latest quagmire" which is looking like 2027. He's stale, out of touch, and so far up his own anus his head has come back out his own mouth.

Legit **** him off as a beginning at the very least.

Not that many are attacking Simpson though, most are saying they don't really care if he goes or stays for now.
The rest of the club need a massive shakeup though, too many people have gotten too comfortable with their positions and we're paying for it now.

Fair call and I agree with you. All of upstairs needs a massive investigation and heads roll if required. It starts with nisbett.

I have sympathy for him. Because it is not all his fault. Even once you seperate out the luck component of why we are where are (i.e. injuries) and just look at the self inflicted damage and things we could control/are responsible for, even amongst that component i think Simpson only deserves a fraction of the blame. The drafting, development, list management and drafting departments have all performed poorly and deserve a big part of the blame. But sometimes you need a forcing function to get change hapenning.

And like you say they are paid big money to deal with the pressure and cut throat nature of the environment. It is a high performance environment. Once you stop performing you are out. It is not a job you can do for 50 years. And you are paid more than 99.9% of the population accordingly.

We've really been very lucky.

I started following Eagles in 91 and had only had 4 coaches.

3 Premiership coaches.

1 coach took over an aging list and brought in the future stars for the 06 flag.

If Simpson leaves or is sacked in the next year or so the next coach is on a hiding to nothing and can really only steady the ship til the next finals push occurs.
