Wait... one of the guys on the coaching panel that has served up this s**t... deserves to get promoted?

If he has brilliant ideas that could get us playing competitive football, why aren't they already being offered up?

A caretaker coach almost always comes from the current coaching panel.

One more reason why making a change right now is pointless.

I do wonder how much an assistant coach with head coaching aspirations holds back in the hope of using their elite tactics come the time they're in charge.

Sexlife mate etc

We've really been very lucky.

I started following Eagles in 91 and had only had 4 coaches.

3 Premiership coaches.

1 coach took over an aging list and brought in the future stars for the 06 flag.

If Simpson leaves or is sacked in the next year or so the next coach is on a hiding to nothing and can really only steady the ship til the next finals push occurs.

We should recruit the best development coach in the country, whomever is best at developing young players to develop ours for a couple of years.

They’ll keep him, he’ll eat a mountain of shit between now and 2025, they’ll go their seperate ways and a new person will get a fresh chance with this version of the list hopefully years in the rear view.

Plenty of change to be made above Simmo, couldn’t argue if they sacked him tomorrow but equally don’t see what difference it will make in the short term, and will only really ruin someone else’s coaching career in the medium term.

I completely agree it doesn't matter.

I'm calling out the people asking for everyone to be sacked as if that fixes everything. The "just do anything" crowd.

A new coach comes in tomorrow with new non negotiables, he lays down the new law and makes it known he is in charge and all players are on notice.
Simmo cannot do that now. It is not about winning now it is simply about setting some standards for the future.
The playing list needs a new message and a new set of non negotiables that cannot be bent.
So we don’t need to sack everyone, we need to put a new coach in place.
Off field can sort itself out in time.

And who is that? Given that all the leading coaching candidates are currently employed at other clubs.

This is is year 2 of a 7 year rebuild.

Any club going through a rebuild that takes 7 years is screwed beyond comprehension.

5 years ago, Collingwood missed a Premiership by a single kick. Today they are top of the ladder and competing again... and we are the bottom of the ladder and apparently still 5 more years away.

I don’t know who it is. Schofield might be a good start for now as long as they allow him to do it his way.

He’s certainly worked wonders with our midfield so far.

Probably because they had players on the way up and we had players on the way down.

The pies also had a bunch of F/S generational talents and a Fit list.

He’s gotta go now.
In my opinion it should have been last year, we’ve now wasted a whole off season and half of this season. Things will only get worse before they get better for Simmo this year and next so pressure will just keep mounting.

If other major changes from HQ down aren’t gonna happen, then Simmo is eventually going to get burned at the stake.

It’s going to happen, so why not just rip the band aid off now

Yes but who do you have in mind to replace him as imo therein lies the problem - at the moment anyway. Also it’s not usually our style to sack a coach halfway through the season - even Ken Judge was allowed to see out the year before he was finally sacked. Not really sure what the solution is just right now.

Could you imagine the amount of shitposting material we'll get out of it though??

It would sure be something :) I have visions of Mark Harvey’s bewildered media conferences but 10x worse.

And each Thursday would be a real treat, the amount of players to be thrown aside for their poor performances.

Honestly, I’d be happier to have Mick back 🤷‍♂️

Just wondering what his next move would be after dropping Jack Darling for no one
