I was 50-50 on Simpson meaning I'm neither disappointed or elated at the decision. But now it's done we have to embrace it and move forward.

Keys mentioned selection integrity would be the first hurdle, a couple of others will be;

1. How Simpson transitions from coaching a very experienced group to what will be one of the youngest lists in the competition
2. If there is to be significant change amongst the assistants, how he will get them to all work together. What's the word? "Synergy"

Made my evening :)

I love how the club broke the news direct to my email inbox 15-20m before the media seemed to

I also suspect that the melts from
the mainly Vic-centric media (and yes I’m in Vic) are at least partly driven by self
interest. If he had lost his job he would be a frontrunner for the Richmond role..

This is the right call. It just never made sense to pay the price when we're in for years of pain either way.

Now move Nizzy on ASAP, fix up the other issues behind the scenes and then see what we need going forward on terms of the coach then.

That all said, I hope Simmo can repay the faith in the long run and really stick it to the media doubters.
Will Toddy_Nesbitt leave with him?

I think we are already seeing glimpses of the new plan. we have been much more aggressive with ball movement compared to last year and further back.
I think he'll get through the entire 2024 but Nissie is hopefully out sometime next year so a new CEO to look over everything might lead to changes at the end of 2024 or they might let him go for his full contract.

Absolutely, agree with that 👍 Obvious statement, but fixing the player availability will go a huge way towards improvement. Some really important off-field changes still needed for sure.

Great news, sacking a premiership coach at the start of a rebuild after a horror injury list for someone unproven would have been madness. Victorian brainlets bringing up the soft cap, which would have never been the major factor.

Now lets get some proper support and some fresh voices around him. In Simmo we trust.

simmo right now

Just quietly, he’s probably very happy we didn’t win the Crows game.

...Simmo could have skated when WC started to dip, but he didn't. Very happy he has been retained.
Unlike Hardwick, who resigned from a club in decline when "it all became a bit too much"...took a nice Summer break with his new squeeze, and then comes back to coach a club far away from cold, wet Melbourne.

I know which bloke I'd prefer lead us back to the top!

So defenders, midfielders, forwards and rucks then?

You forgot our main criteria, injured HBF with midfield potential

I hope we're putting some of what we had considered paying over the soft cap towards our strength and conditioning/medical woes next year.

Someone posted about this recently. **** the softcap spend what we need to get S&C & development departments right. With our recent injuries & upcoming list re profiling these are absolutely crucial if we want to get out of our current situation.

Great point. We should definitely do that. Show the rest of the comp that we have money and are prepared to spend it.

This clip should be the motivation for all associated with west coast to stick it back up the arrogant Vic media who hate getting it wrong and not driving the narrative .
